Gross & Fine Motor Skills:

Scribbles vigorously:
o Today instead of putting out a piece of butcher paper Ms. Vincent set out
individual pieces of paper and the cup of markers. Annaysha once again
sat at the table and colored. There was a small fight with a few of the
children at the coloring table because instead of coloring on her own,
Annaysha scribbled on one page then picked up another one and
scribbled a little on that one. Then she continued to do the same with the
rest of the pages and the other children started yelling at her.

incomprehensible and mostly scribbles.
Turns a doorknob that is within reach using both hands:
o To my surprise Annaysha didnt want to close the door today.

Cognitive Skills:
Ability to search for a hidden object:
o *No one played hide and go seek with anything during this hour
Deferred imitation of an adults novel actions on objects after a long delay:
o I noticed while the children were playing with the doll house today that
when the student helperCarlywould set up the dolls in the doll house
at the kitchen table or in the living room Aniyah would try to put her dolls
at the table or sit them on the couches.
Engages in make-belief play:
o Today the kids played with the doll house and the figurines.

says them often, even if its not in the right context.

o All of the kids except for Annaysha.
Combine 2 words:
o Like I said before all of the kids can speak and talk in sentences except for
Annaysha.

me being here in the room.

*There are no stairs here at the ECEC, nor do they have pegs, large zippers, or allow children to

o c
Displays empathy:
o *Didnt notice any of the kids showing empathy.
Joins in play with familiar others:
o Once again I noticed Carter and Sam playing together which I think points
me to the fact that they are really close and good friends. Aniyah plays by
herself and so does Clara, however Annaysha seems to be an outcast. She
doesnt play with others and others act like they dont want to play with
her.
Complies with simple directions:
o Annaysha doesnt seem to listen to directions very well however Sam is
still very good about listening to directions.
Shows gender-stereotyped toy choices:
o Carter wanted to play with dinosaurs has soon as Ms. Vincent got out the
doll house and he didnt go anywhere near the doll house. That might be a
gender-type toy choice.
Displays self-control:
o Sam is really good about concealing his feelings and not getting into
trouble. If he gets into a quarrel with another child I noticed that he tends
to just up and leave and go play with something else. The first time I saw
him do that it was quite remarkable and I thought that his parents must be
really good teachers at home.
