Committee: Security Council
Topic A: North Koreas ongoing nuclear actions
Delegation: Venezuela
Nuclear sources, weapons and energy have been considered a threat since their discovery, they
can either be used as a massive bomb of destruction, or an incredible source of energy. At the end of
World War II, the United Nations organized to prevent this kind of weaponry to fall in the hands of
unstable countries, denominated by the UN, nonetheless, stable nations are allowed to hold certain
level of nuclear activity. The continuous campaign has led to treaties signed by unstable countries
agreeing not to take any nuclear action, North Korea is one of these countries. The delegation of North
Korea signed a lot of treaties in exchange for food, oil, and trading privilege, however they always seem
to break their promises. This 2014, the United Nations asked to check certain facilities, but they were
denied access, in response to this action, the UN closed every trading and resource gifting to the nation,
ceasing to continue until they let the officers inspect the facilities. This worldwide problem has led to
the involvement of members of the Security Council to take action, US troops were placed in South
Korea, the Japanese navy is at guard, and if the nuclear involvement doesnt cease, it might lead to a
nuclear war.
Nuclear actions and trading have always ended badly and in an international conflict, this has
been proved with the delegations of Iran, North Korea and Syria, however, stable countries also
represent a threat to stability. The delegation of Venezuela has done a handful of treaties to stop the
production of nuclear arsenal and the multiplication of illegal nuclear energy in the South American
countries. The Tlatelolco treaty, the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), Comprehensive
Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT), and the Biological and Toxin weapons convention (BTWC) are only one
of the many agreements signed by Venezuela to prevent this conflict to turn into a catastrophe. In
further action, the nation of Venezuela has only one nuclear powered plant, dedicated only to the
production of energy, a very small amount compared to other countries, like France, which has more
than sixty nuclear compounds (all approved by the UN).
Nations have been incredibly penalized for the illegal production of nuclear facilities, this action
has led to a cruel treatment towards those who have been penalized by the United Nations, for they can
no longer trade with active UN members, and are not allowed to receive outer help from other suppliers
bringing essentials to the nation, like oil, food, or water. The delegation of Venezuela has not directly

supported these damaged countries, however Venezuela has been trying to set trade routes and bigger
commerce treaties with delegations such as Iran and North Korea, for its a fair business that helps both
nations. The cut of resources towards North Korea has caused nothing but problems to the civilians,
which have nothing to do in the governments nuclear actions. Venezuela strongly believes that
punishing these poor people is not the way to solve the problem, for it only causes more trouble for the
past negotiators of the nation.
As for further conflicts, the delegation of Venezuela thinks that no military action should be
taken by the Security Council until its proved that North Korea is truly producing weapons of mass
destruction. Getting in an armed conflict with North Korea would only cause destruction to the country
and its neighbors, triggering a possible nuclear war, instead further research by the UN should be taken
immediately. The United Nations should also increase the area dedicated to investigation, for most of
the war crimes committed are still in an enigma, leaving the situation in a perilous position.
Venezuela has done many things to prevent the nuclear arms movement, it has participated in
many treaties and helped many oppressed countries especially in South America, and however it has
come the time to reach a resolution. Venezuela avoids an armed conflict intended in this nation, for it
has failed in Iran and will fail again if made, in exchange Venezuela proposes the research of nuclear
facilities and free trade routes to oppressed civilians in the nation.
