Violence
The first act of violence goes centuries back,back to when Cain committed the very first murder,
by killing his brother, Abel. Ever since then there seems to be an increase each year of violence that it
has become natural. We see the news and most of us dont even get shocked anymore by the many
atrocities that go on in our world. The ironic thing about it is that not only delinquents committing
violent acts but also the people whom claim to protect society against it, such as cops. Which comes to
show that violence doesnt discriminate. Each and every person promotes violence one way or another.
Either by listening to violent songs, watching movies and/or buying a child a game that contains violent
acts.
Media plays a big role in promoting violence to appear as something natural. A great start is by
brainwashing young adult's mind to think that whatever is said or done by celebrities is the cool, trendy
new thing to do. Most of us look up to these high ranked people because we grew up in a society where
we want to fit in and these celebrities are seen as cool and we want to follow in their footsteps. For
example, in a short excerpt from Freedom Writers Ms. Gruwell says, Thanks to MTV dubbing Long
Beach as the gangsta-rap capital with its depiction of guns and graffiti...they think I should wear a
bulletproof vest rather than pearls.() One of the instruments media uses is T.V and music by
incorporating in their content violence, showing rap video or music by famous rappers such as Snoop
Dogg. People no longer depict what the true meaning of these lyrics say instead they go with it and see
it as something normal or maybe even worse imitate it.
Regulating he conduct of bullies and bigots are to be applauded,not feared. This passage was

taken out of Hate Cannot Be Tolerated by Richard Delgado, it comes to show that society comes to see
these type of people as something to be applauded instead of creating a solution for it. Bu who are these
bullies? These bullies can be those as obvious as a delinquent or as surprising as a cop. People have
seen violence as a solution to their problems that even those who are highly ranked in this country
commit violent crimes as an easy way without taking in consideration the possible consequences.
Although the majority promotes violence whether unknowingly or not many dont. Many
people do their best to prohibit such actions by teaching others or themselves to not act a certain way
upon certain situations. For examples, in The Myth of the Latin Woman by Judith Ortiz Cofer, She
explains a situation in which a man made a racist remark My friend complimented me on y cool
handling of the situation. I confessed to her that I really wanted to push the jerk in the swimming
pool.Violence Is never the answer and the most of society should see it the same and the only way
change will come about is if we all put in at least somewhat of effort to become less violent.
In conclusion, even though violence is present in many ways such as media, violence isnt the
way to go. We should all be leaders instead of followers. Even though our society sees violence as
something normal and highly promotes it, we can all do the opposite and prohibit it to have a better
world for now and for generations to come.
