Reflection
This semesters English course had several big writing assignments that made good
learning experiences. This class reused old learning information from high school and taught me
how to use what I know and combine it with new writing techniques. Also, this course taught
me how useful it is to write multiple drafts, and how important it is to receive feedback from my
peers and instructor when writing any paper. The course helped me improve my writing skills.
This course was a good learning experience for the reasons stressed above.
The resume, the cover letter, and the narrative essay were things I learned back in high
school. These you will find in my e-portfolio in the audience and genre page. All though these
assignments were review they did give me a new view towards them. They were a way to show
the different tones I could accomplish giving the reader. I could go from a professional tone in
one assignment to a more subtle and personal tone in another assignment. These assignments
taught me how to give a better personal tone in my writing.
In this class this semester I have learned how to write an interview and an analysis paper.
In my e-portfolio you will find the interview paper in the process and product page. While for
the analysis paper you will find it in the evidence and analysis page. The skills I gained writing
the interview paper was learning how to interview a person properly and then use what they
asked and state what I learned in an essay. While using the persons experiences I learned how
to combine the persons experiences with backup information coming from an outside source.
Similarly to the interview essay the analysis essay was a learning experience that also provided

me with good skills. For the analysis essay I gained skills on how to completely separate a video
and analyze each scene. With the analysis essay I analyzed one of Taylor Swifts videos and I
talked about how society wants people to fall for the romance story. These essays were a good
way for me to see how much my writing has improved and how well I can take what was given
and transform it into good writing.
Within the semester I noticed improvement on my writing. As a writer I may not be the
best however I did show improvements as time went by. I accomplished giving my reader a
better tone improvement in each one of my essays. I also noticed that a way I was gaining
improvement was by taking into consideration the feedback I received from both my instructor
and my peers. Also I showed I was becoming a better writer as I took the time to revise my work
better than I would before. This is what helped me get my ideas in order and presenting them in
better ways than I would have before.
This course was a good course and I will be taking a lot from what I learned in the course
with me. The feedback, the new techniques, the drafting, and the assignments are why I enjoyed
this course and I grew as a writer.
