I would say No. This revolution was not worth the bloodshed. Because I think it was not a very
serious issue.
General info:
-A revolt of the peasants of Southern and central Germany, the causes of which are disputed as a
result of religious and political prejudice.
-Up to the end of the fourteenth century the peasants enjoyed an advantageous position, even
though they did not own their land in fee simple, but held it at a rental.
-The peasants found inspiration in Martin Luthers early writings and within five years the
frustration of the peasants boiled over into revolt. Although Luthers objections to the abuses of
the church and his egalitarian ideas indirectly influenced the peasant war.He wrote A Christian
is a perfectly free lord of all, subject to none.
-The peasant no longer believed in the authority of the old order.

The German Peasants war or Great Peasants revolt was a widespread popular revolt in the
German speaking areas of Central Europe, 1524-1525. Most of the peasants demands were
economic or political rather than religious.

Some peasant group organized armies. The revolt was supported by Huldrych Zwingli
and Thomas Muntzer. Some 100,000 peasants were killed. The revolt originated in opposition to
the heavy burden taxes and who had no legal rights. These conditions had created conflict in the
fifteenth century. The revolt began in the summer of 1524. And in the spring of 1525, there were
five large bands of peasants roaming the countryside, burning homes of and nobles and princes
and bringing townspeople to their side. The peasants wanted relief from heavy taxes, an end to
an end to the taxes they owed on the death of a member of their families. They set down these
demands in a document known as the twelve articles. Poor townspeople and Urban and artisans
joined the revolution , which was opposed by Martin Luther.

In the meantime an army of Swabian League gathered in Central America, to defeat the peasants
in battle. The peasants didnt have money and military knowledge. The lack of discipline and
organization led to the loss of many peasant lives. About one hundred thousand civilians were
killed in that battle.

The peasants had failed in their attempt to change the status. And life continued on pretty much
the same before this battle began. So, what was the use of this bloodshed... I think, all these
fighting were useless. They couldnt make any change!!

Peasants began to revolt against their oppressors, claiming the same divine right like rebel. They
were not satisfied. Historian still debate on whether the peasants war was a political one, an
economic one or a religious one. I think, it appeared to be a mixture of all of them. The old
feudal system had become meaningless in their eyes.

About 100,000 peasants lost their lives!! and we may never know how many were executed.
They had so many demands. Their demands were for complete social equality. The peasants
refused to pay the tithes, and burned large quantities of grain.

The German and French revolution were influenced by Enlightenment ideas. And Both had
failed to achieve their goals. French revolution also caused taxation, economics, finances,
political issues. So many innocent people died during these revolutions.

It proves my claim that the war was not worth the bloodshed. Basically, so many people died
(100,00) but they couldnt make any change. They were not ready for the revolution, they didnt
have enough militaries, weapons, leaders and organizations. The peasants never had specific
goals. They were inspired by Martin Luther. But Martin Luther couldnt support the peasant war
because it broke peace. He also criticized their mercilessness.
