thecontextofhumanresources,socialworkers,nonprofitorganizations,and

AttendingtheclasswasagoodopportunitytoexploretheMexicanAmerican
CultureandhistoryunderstandingtheoriginsfromancientMesoamerica,the
conquestfromSpainandtheRevolution,andhowtheGovernmenthashad

changesnotallthetimebeneficialtotheMexicanpopulationoneofthemisthe
MexicanAmericanWaroralsoKnownasU.S.MexicanWar.
TheTreatyofGuadalupeHidalgospecifiedthemajorconsequenceofthewar:the
forcedMexicanCessionoftheterritoriesofAltaCaliforniaandNewMexicotothe
UnitedStates
ThestruggleswithwarsandtheterritoryofTexastakenawayfromMexicohasleft
amarkonculture,religionandeducation.Beingabletogobackintimeandsee
howtheeventstookplacehaveagreatvaluetopeoplethatworkscloselyto
MexicanorMexicanAmericanIndividuals.

IalsogainedKnowledgeabouttheimportanceofreligionintheMexicanAmerican
cultureandHispanicculture,ExploringtheimpositionofanewreligionwhenSpain
cameandtookovertheAztecEmpireandcityofTenochtitlanarichandStrong
communityestablishedonwhatnowknownasMexicocityorValledeMexico.

ReligionwasextremelyimportantinAzteclife.They
worshippedmanygodsa,eachoneofthemruled
oneormorehumanactivitiesoraspectsofnature.
Thepeoplehadmanyagriculturalgodsbecause
theirculturewasbasedheavilyonfarmingalso
theyincludednaturalelementsand
ancestorheroes.
thishadagreatimpactwhenthereligionchangedtoCatholicismandthereligion
wasadoptedbythemajorityofthepopulationtothedayMexicoisoneofthe
countrieswiththestrongestCatholicfollowers.

itcoveredadiversesetofissuessuchasfaireducationforChicanoPopulation,
farmworkersrights,militaryinvolvementandantidiscrimination,therewasmany
memorableLeadersonthemovementoneof
themisCesarChavezwhofoughtforfarm
Workersrights.Someoftheorganizations
createdweretheLeagueofUnitedLatin
AmericanCitizensandLaRazaUnidapolitical
Party.
WehavelearnedthedifficultiesMexican
americanshavefacedtobetreatedequallyand
learnedthepositivesoutcomesofthis
movementshelpingustohaveabetterlifestyle
andcontributingtoenforceequalityamong
diverseethnicgroups
