Global warming
Global warming is the observed century scale rise in the average temperature of
earth climate system. The earth temperature has risen about 0.74C in the past 100 years. Global
warming is a problem that the government should let the people aware about it and there should
be some government regulation to solve the global warming problem.
"The CO2 (carbon dioxide) is start it to raise with the industrial period, because when
you burn fossil fuel on a large scale a lot of CO2 will go to the air. Now days cars and factory
pollute the air by releasing carbon dioxide. The greenhouse gases effect provides earth with warm
atmospheric envelope that support life, this warm come buy trapping greenhouse gases in the air,
these gases are natural greenhouse gases, carbon dioxide, methane, water vapor and ozone. The
natural greenhouse gases has varied somewhat over long periods of geologic time, they have
been relatively stable since the last ice age ended 20,000 years ago" (GLOBALIZATION AND
DIVERSITY54).These gases are like layers that protecting us from sun's radiation. "However,
with the widespread consumption of coal and petroleum associated with global industrialization,
in atmospheric carbon dioxide and methane (by-products of burning oil and coal). This increase
has greatly magnified the natural greenhouse effect and produced global warming. In 1860 the
atmospheric the carbon dioxide was 280 parts per million (ppm); today it is more than 390 ppm.
More troubling is that unless global emissions are reduced considerably in

Alsaleem 2

the near future, the carbon dioxide level will reach 450 ppm by 2020, a level at which
climate scientists project that Earth's climate will be changed irrevocably"(GLOBALIZATION
AND DIVERSITY53). But when we increases some of these gases it will make a whole in the
layers and with this whole we are not protected from the sun radiation.
When we change something in earth there will be a lot of changes sometimes it good and
sometimes it bad, unfortunately all the changes we are doing is bad, because if we keep the
heavy industrial life, we are threating all life in earth.
"China surpassed the United States as the largest emitter of greenhouse gases in 2008. A
major component of this global warming pollution is that Chain is the world's largest consumer
of coal, which is used primarily to generate electricity from coal-fired power plants. Because of
this growing need experts predict that China's emission could double in the next 20 year, a
worrisome prospect that will have profound effects on the world's climate. When the industrial
country keep polluting the air the Earth's will have a lot of negative effect that need a lot of time
time to fix it. Scientists uses high-powered computer models are reaching consensus on what can
be expected from continued global warming. Basically, computer models predict that average
global temperatures will increase almost 4*F (2*C) by 2020, a change in

Alsaleem 3

temperature that is the same magnitude as the cooling that caused ice-age glaciers to
cover much of Europe and North America 30 ,000 years ago. If emissions continue at the current
rate, this temperature increase is projected to double by 2100"(GLOBALIZATION AND
DIVERSITY54-55).If the industrial country keep polluting without at least to reduce the
pollution the climate will change by getting hotter and their will be a lot of consequence. One of
the consequence of global global warming will be a rise in the world's sea level "due to a
combination of polar ice cap melting and thermal expansion of warmer ocean water. Forecasts
are that at the current rate of climate warming sea levels will rise about 4 feet by year 2100,
causing considerable flooding of low lying coastal areas such as this region of the Netherlands
near Amsterdam. Other densely settled coastal areas throughout the world will also be
vulnerable"(GLOBALIZATION AND DIVERSITY54).We will lose some of the land because
the polar ice is melting and adding more water to the sea."There are a lot of animal will extinct
because of the global warming for example the polar bears. The ice floes are an important part of
the polar habitat. Because arctic ice is melting more rapidly now due to global warming, the
20,000 bears living in the wild face uncertain future. Recently, polar bears have been reported
drowning trying to swim long distances between ice sheets"(GLOBALIZATION AND
DIVERSITY48). We are not just getting the earth hotter, we are killing animals because global
warming by melting the arctic ice. I do not think anyone who has a heart will agree to continue
of global warming.

Their are people that do not believe global warming has effect, they believe it natural or
there are another reason.
" Earth's climate changes naturally and such changes in the intensity of sunlight reaching
the earth cause cycles of warming and cooling that have been a regular feature of the" Earth's
climatic history"(Singh). In my opinion what case climate change is global warming because I
live in Kuwait five years ago I could walk to the school, now I can not walk to my friend house
in the noon. All that because the earth is getting hotter and hotter every year. Scientists are being
skeptic and saying that "Climate is always changing. We have had ice ages and warmer periods
when alligators were found in Spitsbergen. Ice ages have occurred in a hundred thousand year
cycle for the last 700 thousand years, and there have been previous periods that appear to have
been warmer than the present despite CO2 levels being lower than they are now. More recently,
we have had the medieval warm period and the little ice ages."(Richard Lindzen) based on that
quote: my opinion is that scientists are avoiding the inevitable. I guess that what will happen is to
come and other generations will have to face the mistake that we committed, and try to fix them.
Finally, global warming is a problem that the government should find a solution to global
warming, so other generations do not face our mistake.
