Abstract
This paper presents an exploratory study that created a virtual reality environment to stimulate
motivation and creativity in imaginative writing at primary school level. The main aim of the study was to
investigate if an interactive, semi-immersive virtual reality world could increase motivation and stimulate
pupils' imagination in the context of a writing task that is part of normal school practice and of the
Introduction
The study presented here was part of a larger research project that investigated the use of threedimensional digital technologies in enhancing teaching and learning, and to promote creativity. It was
important to choose an educational subject where existing learning and teaching methods can be
problematic or inadequate for its instruction/delivery and identify how such technology can help to
overcome problems or augment current teaching techniques. This study was primarily exploratory,
seeking to develop possibilities for the use of immersive virtual reality technology in teaching writing to
Discussion
This was really about the situation of how children can do so much with creative writing and
how they can learn the basics on where to start. There are video recordings, data, lots of fantasy to
learn and to show from the administration to learn more things. This could actually use so much for this
paper. I could actually learn about this with my own children. The teachers also comments on the
students on how they do well to the parents.
