Secondary School Fieldwork Plan


1. Students will demonstrate an understanding of the role of Teacher Librarian as
Instructor.
i. Students demonstrate a capacity to design instruction to meet
standards.
ii. Students use multiple measures of assessment.
iii. Students use multiple instructional techniques for diverse student
populations.
Learning Objective: Develop a library skills instructional program for elementary
grades Kindergarten to 5.
Learning Objective: Collaborate on library skills instructional plan for secondary grades
6-8.
Result: not able to complete
2. Students demonstrate an understanding of 21st Century Literacies.
i. Students support and promote textual literacy.
ii. Students respond to diverse literacy needs of the school.
iii. Students provide resources and promote resources to support
multiple literacies.
Learning Objective: Develop a basic computer instructional program for elementary
grades Kindergarten to 5.
Result: Reviewed GDOE computer technology standards, objectives provided by Focus
Group D team leaders
Future Action: choose basic skills per grade level, develop a pre-post test
Alternate Objective: Re-design website to remove activities which have not yet been
taught, e.g. KBC, PLE, Book2Cloud and to streamline remaining pages for ease &
function, e.g. blog & policies/procedures
Result: complete
Future Action: add links for students, parents, teachers based on curriculum maps
3. Students demonstrate an understanding of information organization.
i. Students instruct and model information literacy skills, and ethical
and efficient information use.
ii. Students understand the principles of managing a collection based
on school population.

iii. Students understand and implement policies that protect the ethical
and legal access to materials for the school community.

Learning Objective: Develop an information literacy instructional program for


elementary grades Kindergarten to 5.
Learning Objective: Collaborate on information literacy instructional plan for
secondary grades 6-8.
Result: not able to complete

4. Students demonstrate capacity as a program manager.


i. Students discuss a plan for comprehensive library program focused
on student learning.
ii. Students demonstrate the capacity to develop and understand
polices that support the legal and ethical codes of the profession.
iii. Students demonstrate a capacity to manage a budget.
iv. Students demonstrate the capability of training and managing staff
and volunteers.
Learning Objective: Implement SY 2013-2016 School Library Media Program Plan for
for D.L. Perez Elementary School.
Learning Objective: Develop a volunteer service plan for adults and students.
Result: develop an application & checklist of activities for students, develop a potential
training outline for students; request for adult volunteers, especially for data entry
Future Action: present to students & teachers during instructional time
Learning Objective: Collaborate on literacy promotion event or activity for elementary
and or secondary library program.
Result: not able to complete
5. Students demonstrate leadership
i. Students understand the role of teacher librarian in staff
development and professional development.
Learning Objective: Update environmental scan for D.L. Perez Elementary School.
Learning Objective: Develop an environmental scan for F.B. Leon Guerrero Middle
School.
Result: not able to complete

6. Students demonstrate the ability to advocate.


i. Students use research and educational policy to advocate for the
library to a variety of audiences.
Learning Objective: Participate in district Library Committee, e.g. Library Standard
Operating Procedures and or Library Automation.
Result: District-wide plan is for librarians to develop School Library Comprehensive
Evaluation Tool by end of school year; joined Tool Review Committee to align Job
Description and highlight areas specific to current library work; develop Google
documents for online review
Future Action: continue collaboration with Tool Review Committee & seek collaboration
with Job Description committee
Not every category will be addressed at every site, but you should make an attempt to
develop projects with your supervisor at both sites to address the first three.
If you are currently a working Teacher Librarian you may use projects at your own site to
address some of these areas.
The fieldwork plan is a road map, it is possible that you will take a side road and not
complete all of the planned activities as others present themselves. This is acceptable.
The fieldwork plan development may count towards one hour of fieldwork.

Please submit within the first five hours of each site fieldwork.
