Learning Target: Ask students if they remember what our learning target for the week is. I
can identify the setting in a story. Ask students if they remember what a setting is.
Amazing Words: Ask students if they remember any of the Amazing Words that we
discussed yesterday. Go over the definitions of the amazing words and the pictures cards.
Note: This is our second reading of We Are So Proud.
Read the story to the students and ask questions including:
What has the school planned for a celebration?
What is the setting?
What are the children making?
The setting changed! What is the setting now?
What colors of paint are the children using?
What are the children doing?
Ask students to identify the setting of the story. Ask children to retell the main events .

Assess

This lesson will be informally assessed. Student responses to questions pertaining to

setting will be used to evaluate student understanding.

End of
Week

Students will be called one at a time to identify the setting in a short sample text. By
using a visual reference that students can interact with to choose an example of a
setting, rather than having students think of a setting from a previous story more
students will be able to be successful with demonstrating their understanding of
setting.
