Identify Scenario:
School Age,
Julio is a second grader. He is just beginning to learn about multiplication. It was Julios turn to
work at the math center. He was working on making equal groups by using Unifix cubes. His
first problem was 2x2. Julio straggled to figure out how to present the problem using the cubes.
He ask his neighbor, Lizabeth for help and watched as she showed that she needed to make two
groups and put two cubes in each group. Julio said: Thank you. I think I get it. He moved to
next problem; 3x2. Julio made two groups and put three into each group. Julio was diagnosed
last year with limited fine motor control.
Summarize Data:
After observations, I made a checklist where I did assessment in three domains of two students:
Julio Times and Lizabeth Jordan. These were the following domains: Emotional/Social
Development, Cognitive Development and Physical Development. In this case Lizabeth master
all the concepts from each domain, for example, in the Social/Emotional Development: Lizabeth
shows mastered in Resolves conflicts with others, fallow rules etc., In the Cognitive
development: Lizabeth mastered in Expresses ideas clearly to others, Uses knowledge and
memory and Has number sense of mathematical operations and in the last domain: Physical
Development: Lizabeth mastered in taking apart and put together small pieces, draw pictures
with identifiable parts. On the other hand Julio shows a high score on mastering most of the
Social / Emotional concepts but shows impulse control not developed as yet. In the Cognitive
Development he master two concepts and emerge on the others, for instance, he mastered
Perseus understanding while in the Physical Development he emerge on all the concepts.

Define Possible Outcomes:

Julio has a typical development disability, due to his fine motor weaknesses that may affects his
education. Fine motor skills involve the small muscles of the body that enable such functions as
writing, grasping small objects, and fastening clothing. This problem is going to need attention
from IEP team Evaluation by a Physical and Occupational Therapys that determines if Julios
motor skills are a concern and if therapy can improve them. The IEP team will use therapist
assessments and other evaluation data to determine if Julio needs regular therapy as a related
service. On the other hand. Lizabeth has a typical development; due to the fact that she has no
disabilities. The outcomes of being a child with mastered most of all concepts of development
make Lizabeth realize that everyone is different. This will inform my teaching that as class we
can draw pictures about how everyone is different and by having class discussions about being
kind to people that seem to be different than us.
Identify Strengths and Weakness of Using the Profile Tool:
The strengths of using the profile tool are: They effective and easy to use in the classroom. Is
effective because the teacher doesnt have to write detail after detail. Checklist can provide
information that it could be used as a basis for the next time you need to greater details on the
observation of a specific child. Its also good for knowing whether a child has mastered a
particular skill.
Identify Other Tools that Might be Use to Support Collection Data:
The other tools I could use to support the collection data would be the Anecdotal Record to look
for observations that indicate if Julio presents any other development concern.

Discuss Adaptations to the Assessment Tool:

The adaptation that I would add to this assessment tool is: Add more concepts to the Physical
Development domain to provide more specifics; for instance, graving or holding heavy objects to
measure strengths of the small and large muscles; this will benefit Julio because assessment can
be done in a more effective manner and not a year later.
