WP Key Terms Document Assessment

50/50 (K&U)

List all of the key terms and a definition / explanation of your understanding of
each of the terms
Your finished product should not only include the definitions/explanations but also
demonstrate your understanding and ability to use the various tools available in
word processing, for example:

page numbers
headers/footers
bullet/numbered lists
font attributes
page orientation

margins, line spacing


inserting & formatting images
borders
etc., etc., etc.,

Insertion Point- This is where your text comes


from when you click.
Word Wrap- Words that wrap around a
picture.
Backspace- A button on the keyboard used to
delete text.
Delete- A word meaning to make something
disappear.(deleted text)
Template- A premade design for you document
to be organized in.
Placeholder Text- This is randomly generated
text for a template document.
Alignment- A tool used to align your text so it is
straight.

Serif- A normal text font for you document.
Sans Serif- A bolder kind of Serif.
Script- This any kind of text that looks
handwritten.

Baseline- This is something in which you can


compare what you have done so far in your
document top what it was before.
Superscript- This is when your text is above the
normal text line and is smaller
Subscript- This is when your text is below the
normal text line and is smaller.
Hanging Indent- This is when you first
paragraph is not indented but the rest
automatically indent.
Format Painter-You can use the Format Painter
to quickly apply formatting from text, shapes,
and pictures to another text selection, shape,
or picture.
Margin- The margin is where your text is
compared to how big the page is.
Drag and Drop- This is when you allow your
text or pictures to be highlighted then moved
with your cursor to another area of your
document or even a separate one.
Outline View- This is a part of Word that makes
it easier to make a multi-level list.

Promote (within your outline)- This is when


your text is closer and easier to see.
Demote (within your outline)- This is when
your text is not as easy to see but is still there.
Thesaurus- This is a place where you can find
different words that mean the same as what
you have typed.
Page Break- This is when you skip down the
page to the next one according to where your
cursor is.
Section Break- This is where you can choose
what kind of break between paragraphs you
want.
Header A place where you can add you name
address and other information.
Footer- An area which you can put a page
number at the bottom of your document.
Footnote- This is a number within the text that
will be referenced to the endnote for
information or where this information came
from.

Endnote- This is where you references or


important information go to when you add a
footnote
Portrait Page Orientation- This is when your
page is in the default vertical position.
Landscape Page Orientation- This is when you
put your page into a horizontal position.
Column Gutter- The gutter is the space
between two columns.i
