CURRICULUM COMPONENT CRITERIA.

The Plan must establish clear goals and realistic strategy for using
telecommunications and information technology to improve education services.
(Answer at least 2 questions for each subsection below)

Describe teachers' current access to instructional technology and current

use of digital tools.
Currently, every classroom in FBISD schools has a computer which is connected
to Internet. In addition, most of the teachers have been provided with a laptop
computer or a mobile device such as an iPad.
Most of the classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards and all schools
have at least one classroom equipped with Clickers student response systems.
Most of the classrooms in every school are equipped with document cameras.
Describe students' current access to instructional technology and current
use of digital tools. Include a description about the LEA policy, practices,
and/or replacement policy that ensures equitable technology access for all
students.
FBISD provides library access for students before school, after school and during
the lunch times.
All schools have a computer lab equipped with a projector and from 20 to 30
computers, which are connected to Internet.
In addition, every school in the district has a cart of 30 laptop computers ready to
be used by students in the relevant classes.
In Elementary schools, the technology is used to develop basic computer-usage
skills, and writing/typing skills using the word processing programs.
In Middle schools, the technology is used to support their course projects in the
form of writing programs and Internet searches. In addition, students create
multimedia presentations and use e-mail.
In High schools, the technology is used to provide additional skill based support
on specialized subjects. For example, Social Science students may create
presentations and visit various virtual tours on Internet, whereas Math and
Science students can use spreadsheets to analyze data or use simulation
programs to run experiments.

Describe goals and an implementation plan, with annual activities, for

using technology to improve teaching and learning. Describe how these
goals align to the LEA's curricular goals that are supported by other plans.
Describe how the LEA's budget (LCAP) supports these goals, and whether
future funding proposals or partnerships may be needed for successful
implementation.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMPONENT

The Plan must have a professional development strategy to ensure that staff
understands how to use these new technologies to improve education services
(Answer at least 2 questions for each subsection below)

Summary of the teachers' and administrators' current technology

proficiency and integration skills and needs for professional development.
Teachers in FBISD have wide ranging proficiencies in various technologies in the
context of their jobs. All of them are generally comfortable with office productivity
applications and can use Internet for sourcing information.
With growing introduction of new instructional and administrative software packages
there is a need for allowing a dedicated training and development time for teachers so
that they are able to utilize these technologies in their teaching and administrative tasks.

Describe goals and an implementation plan, with annual activities, for

providing professional development opportunities based on your LEA
needs assessment data and the Curriculum Component of the plan.

INFRASTRUCTURE, HARDWARE, TECHNICAL SUPPORT, SOFTWARE, AND

ASSET MANAGEMENT COMPONENT CRITERIA

The Plan must include an assessment of the telecommunication services,

hardware, software, asset management, and other services that will be needed to
improve education services.
(Answer at least 2 questions for each subsection below)

Describe the existing hardware, Internet access, electronic learning

resources, technical support, and asset management already in the LEA
that will be used to support the Curriculum and Professional Development
Components of the plan.
FBISD currently has the following device inventory:
Device Type
Desktop
Laptop
Document Camera
Projector
Smart Board
Tablet
Clicker
Video Camera

Of all computers in FBISD, over 90% are Desktops and the rest are laptops.

Most of the computers in FBISD are HP and Dell, 99% of Dell and 59% of HP

computers are out of manufacturer provided warranty.

Data in the table below shows % of computers that are currently considered
outdated.

Describe the technology hardware, electronic learning resources,

networking and telecommunications infrastructure, physical plant
modifications, technical support, and asset management needed by the
LEA's teachers, students, and administrators to support the activities in the
Curriculum and Professional Development components of the plan.
In FBISD the adopted standard is to maintain 20% ongoing refresh cycle for
computers, servers, and network equipment every year, on the basis that such
hardware must be refreshed on a 5 year cycle.
Less demanding technologies such as monitors, projectors, interactive
whiteboards, printers and cameras can be refreshed less frequently, most often
they are run to failure and maintained or replaced as needed.
As the usage of Internet based tools for collaboration and learning increases,
there is a demand for efficient connections, file storage and increased bandwidth
within LAN and WAN.

MONITORING AND EVALUATION COMPONENT

The plan must include an evaluation process that enables the school to monitor
progress toward the specific goals and make mid-course corrections in response
to new developments and opportunities as they arise.
(Answer at least 2 questions for each subsection below)

Describe the process for evaluating the plan's overall progress and impact
on teaching and learning.
Principals, Directors and Superintendent will meet on a regular basis to evaluate the
plan`s overall progress. Key Performance Indicators such as impact on student learning
and teacher development feedback will be used to make adjustments as needed.
Integrated Solutions Team will provide quarterly updates on the progress of integrating
technology into instruction.

Describe the schedule for evaluating the effect of plan implementation,

including a description of the process and frequency of communicating
evaluation results to tech plan stakeholders.
