PSIII Final Report Jessica Bevans
Jessica Bevans is an intern teacher at Our Lady of the Assumption School. I am one of the mentor teachers for Jessica. Jessica
teaches Language Arts, Math, and Physical Education to grade 6 students and Language Arts to grade 4 students.
Jessica has also shown commitment to the academic courses she has taught. She cares deeply about student engagement and
uses a variety of instructional strategies and relevant content matter to enhance student learning. Jessica is engaged in our
teacher collaborative time and is embracing that time to impact her pedagogy. She is willing to refine her instructional
practices to meet the needs of all learners.
Jessica has demonstrated many skills as a teacher. She is planned, organized and prepared for all of her lessons. She
completed long range plans and daily lesson plans. The essential outcomes, structured learning activities and setting the
appropriate classroom environment are all visible in her plans. Assessment is always in the forefront of Jessicas lessons and
she used a detailed colour system to know the learning levels of all her students.
Another one of Jessicas skills as a teacher is her ability to communicate effectively with parents, staff and students. It is
obvious in my observations of Jessica that she communicates well with the students and has formed a good rapport in the
classroom. Her lessons are presented in a clear and structured manner. She delivers her lessons using a variety of
instructional strategies including individual and group work to best meet student needs. Jessica is confident with technology
and frequently uses it as part of her instruction and models the use of technology for learning activities. Specifically, she
created a blog to communicate learning resources and important information to students and parents.
Jessica is a Native Studies major and consistently infuses FNMI concepts and perspectives in her teaching. She engages
students by making connections to her personal life and relevant situations ensuring lessons and materials are meaningful to
the students. Jessica has demonstrated her ability to work effectively with the class as whole, small groups and one to one
when working on academic activities. She has smooth flow to her lesson and ends activities with summary and or transition
to the next class.
With regards to management, Jessica established a positive teacher to student relationship. Her ability to build those
relationships with students and staff was a very positive experience for students, parents and staff at OLA. She effectively
managed her class room with fair and consistent consequences. She demonstrated confidence to deal with students and
parents when students misbehavior did occur. Jessica attended our schools Outdoor Education trip and was active in our
school assemblies.
Jessica always presented herself in a professional manner. She became an active and important member of our learning
community.
Jessica Bevans has shown great care and concern for the students, teachers, and community of Our Lady of the Assumption
School. She demonstrates many of the skills and qualities that will lead to her future success as a teacher.
