SSTD technology needs are determined by the following process:

Departments meet to discuss technology needs within the department. The department
chairpersons submit department needs to the building principal. The building principal
meets with the Director of Technology to determine priorities and alternatives. The
recommended priority and alternative list is taken back to the Coordinating Council (all
Department Chairpersons) and the priorities are reviewed. Final recommendation is
submitted to the Central Office where purchases are prioritized according to the SSTD
Strategic Plan.
Examples of SSTD Technology needs follows:
Digital Communications class technology
Media retrieval upgrades or projectors in classrooms for streaming video
Develop systematic update system for oldest equipment
Smart Board technology installation
Factors considered in the Plans development included:
Aligning goals and objectives to the District Strategic Plan and the State
Education Technology Plans
Standards for students, teachers and administrators
Recognizing the critical role of leadership as change agents in the transformation
of education
Meeting the needs of our schools communities of learners
Ensuring equity of access to all resources
Developing a culture in which assessment and data informs and shapes teaching,
learning and business practices
Joining innovative business and educational practices
Maximizing the use of mobile digital devices to increase learning opportunities
and communications
Providing continuing professional learning for all educators
Ensuring the infrastructure supports the digital learning environment
Promoting continuing stakeholder communication and collaboration
CURRICULUM COMPONENT CRITERIA.
The Plan must establish clear goals and realistic strategy for using

telecommunications and information technology to improve education services.

(Answer at least 2 questions for each subsection below)

The SSTD supports teaching and learning by providing a Technology Department. This
department has a Director of Technology and a Support Service Technician. In addition,
each building is served by a Technology Specialist who is the forefront of support for
technology-related issues. Technology integration and staff development is coordinated
by the Director of Technology. The SSTD will support teaching and learning by
encouraging the effective use of a variety of technologies as tools for:
collecting and disaggregating data to be used for curriculum and teaching strategy
decisions
engaging learners using remote response systems, SmartBoards, iTouchs,
podcasts, videos, etc.
providing remediation and improvement activities
enhancing and supporting the attainment of state standards
researching best practices, lesson plans, standards and benchmarks online
communicating locally and globally using podcasts, videocasts, Skype, blogs,
wikis,& chats
improve productivity and recordkeeping
Describe students' current access to instructional technology and current use of
digital tools. Include a description about the LEA policy, practices, and/or
replacement policy that ensures equitable technology access for all students.
Describe goals and an implementation plan, with annual activities, for using
technology to improve teaching and learning. Describe how these goals align to
the LEA's curricular goals that are supported by other plans. Describe how the
LEA's budget (LCAP) supports these goals, and whether future funding
proposals or partnerships may be needed for successful implementation.
TEACHING AND LEARNING GOALS

Student learning is the focus and goal for all technology applications in our school
corporation. Technology, when integrated into instruction, supports new strategies for
teaching and learning by:
Addressing diverse learning styles
Accommodating individual learning rates
Encouraging cooperative learning
Helping students accept responsibility for their learning
Providing the means to communicate globally
Improving academic achievement in all areas.
Teachers have access to student data and effectively use that data to provide educational

strategies and learning environments for students. Educators create a positive learning
environment that encourages the use of technology as an instructional, problem solving,
communication and productivity tool that enhances every area of the curriculum.
Teachers and students have access to technology in classrooms where the teacher serves
as a facilitator of instruction, mentor and coach and students are engaged in the learning
process. Educators utilize technology to communicate with and involve parents in the
everyday education of their child.
IDENTIFIED STRATEGIES
Software purchases will be made to support specific learning goals and teaching
strategies.
Student performance data will be a criteria used to determine technology
direction.
Accelerated Reader, Study Island, ALEKS, and other similar programs will
provide teachers with data for prescribing learning activities
Staff development will focus on the use of technology and data to support
teaching strategies and standards.
Classroom technology purchases will be dependent upon technology integration
plans submitted by building personnel and/or technology committee and approved
by the principal.
Technology purchases will focus on classroom teaching and learning needs.
Secure online access will be made available to teachers and parents for accessing
student data, attendance, educational resources, and classroom information.
Software which focuses on curricular content will be selected to support credit
recovery and after hours student programs.
Review the Corporation plan for replacing, retiring, repurposing, and recycling
old equipment.
Continue installation of Smart boards and related interactive technology in
classrooms k-12.
Describe goals and an implementation plan, with annual activities, to address
Internet Safety and the appropriate and ethical use of technology in the
classroom.
The SSTD has established an ongoing procedure to filter and block access to Internet
sites that contain pornography, obscenity, and content harmful to minors. The School
District is in compliance with the Childrens Internet Protection Act (CIPA), inclusive of
the following three components:
Implementation of a Technology Protection Measure
Implementation of an Internet Safety Policy
Advertisement of a Public Notice and Holding of a Public Hearing
Plans for out-years regarding Access will be further revised, updated and will be
incorporated in the districts new Technology Policies and Procedures manual.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMPONENT
The Plan must have a professional development strategy to ensure that staff
understands how to use these new technologies to improve education services

(Answer at least 2 questions for each subsection below)

Summary of the teachers' and administrators' current technology proficiency and

integration skills and needs for professional development.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
SSTD will promote professional development by the following:
The high school staff will take advantage of voluntary district training
opportunities offered during the summer. A stipend is paid to teachers who take
advantage of summer training. Summer training opportunities are scheduled
through the Technology and Media Services Department and cover a wide range
of skills.
Department Chairpersons will plan, approve, and schedule department-specific,
release time technology training with Director of Technology.
Department Chairpersons will assign teachers experts to staff members who
need just in time training.
The building principal or assistant principals will plan and schedule building level
technology staff development collaboratively with the Director of Technology.
One-on-one assistance is given by the school technician, trained staff members
SSTD will provide released time to teachers assigned to specific technology
projects.
Describe goals and an implementation plan, with annual activities, for providing
professional development opportunities based on your LEA needs assessment
data and the Curriculum Component of the plan.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT GOALS:
The SSTD will provide ongoing staff development that will:
Focus on improving teaching and learning, communication, and productivity
using technology as a tool.
Provide a forum for sharing of lesson plans, strategies, resources, etc., across the
curriculum, K-12.
Provide for mentor support for teachers integrating technology into their
curriculum.
Train teachers to use new technology and software purchased to enhance teaching
and learning.
IDENTIFIED STRATEGIES:
Set up teacher forums through the SSTD web portal for sharing teaching strategies,
lesson plans, and classroom management ideas across building boundaries.

Budget for and schedule ongoing training workshops for teachers and staff.
Assign Technology Committee members and technology proficient staff as
mentors to teachers who are less proficient.
Utilize the web portal for posting training videos designed to reinforce technology
use across the curriculum.
Investigate distance learning and TV station technologies as an outlet for
distributing training to the learning community.

INFRASTRUCTURE, HARDWARE, TECHNICAL SUPPORT, SOFTWARE, AND
