Every Day Carry (EDC)

My EVERY DAY CARRY (EDC) setup follows a tiered system approach. Rather than just thinking about
having "all" of my EDC items on my person at all times, I like to think of them as multiple levels based on my
clothing options and specific need. This helps me stay organized with what I decide to carry on my person at all
times as well as adds a level of redundancy, in the rare care that an particular item is lost or forgotten. Here is a list
of the Tiers and categories:
1.
2.
3.
4.

Tier 1: Core Items

Tier 2: Tools
Tier 3: Survival, Redundancy and Miscellaneous Items
Tier 4: Urban EDC Backpack

The specific categories and tiers should not be considered a universal gold standard in regard to EDC.
Everyone's EDC is specific to their personal needs. However, I feel that this tiered system could be altered and
leveraged to other peoples specific EDC requirements. Most people have a personal preferences on gear
manufactures and style, however the categories are usually similar to what is documented in this tiered system.

Tier 1
"Core Items"
Tier 1 includes all of the core items of my EDC. These are items that I absolutely never
leave home without, no matter what I happen to be wearing. The majority of the
categories for this particular tier should be common to most people.
Besides all of the normal items included in my wallet (e.g., cash, credit cards, ID, etc) I
also carry one (1) band-aid and one (1) alcohol prep pad inside of wallet. This is for a
bare minimum of first aid needs, in the rare case that I do not have access to my "Mini
Medi (TM)" or the first aid kit in my backpack.

Keychain Accessories
It's often difficult to choose items for your EDC Keychain (Every Day Carry) without creating an overly
large keychain of gear. This often times results in the dreaded "Prepper Bulge". There are the items on my current
EDC Keychain. In the video, I talk about each item in detail, perform a few demos and also discuss the concept of
streamlining your keychain items in a compact method to compliment your other EDC items.

Tier 2
"Tools"

Tier 2 includes all of my EDC "tools". I store all of these items in my front right
pocket, which also includes the small watch pocket that is usually included in
most pants and shorts. The items represent pocket size versions of a my EDC
flashlight and pen, which compliment the primary versions of those particular
items which are included in Tier 3. This adds a level of redundancy to items that I
use often to help ensure that I always have that particular type of item available
(in the case that something is lost).

Urban Altoids EDC Tin

Version 2.1
My Urban Altoids "EDC" Tin is not designed as a standard "survival tin". Instead of carrying a bunch of
items that I would most likely never use on a daily basis, I redesigned my kit into more of a "convenience" that have
a higher probability of actually being used in an urban environment. This would be an extremely poor kit to carry
in the Amazon jungle, but highly beneficial to have at work, home, out of town travel and during errands in an
urban environment.

Tier 4
"Urban EDC Backpack"
Tier 4 includes all of the items included with my Urban EDC Backpack. I have a
whole dedicated video series and PDF for this particular EDC item, so I will not
duplicate the entire inventory in this EDC document. The Urban EDC backpack I have
is a Maxpedition Pygmy Falcon II. In an effort to keep my Urban EDC Backpack
organized, I use individual compartments for various categories that I find to be
useful. Each compartment is color coded with an ID tag on the compartment
container.

I do not always walk around with a backpack strapped on my back, but I always have when I commute to
work. When I leave my home, this backpack is usually stored in my car and is easily accessible. I will often refill
items from my EDC (on my person) using the supply I have in this backpack (e.g., batteries for flashlight, spare
band-aids, cash, etc).
