Topic 1: Principals must effectively and consistently model the use of the same

technology tools they expect teachers to use in their classrooms with the students (Toy,
n.d.).
1. Do you agree or disagree with this statement/topic? State your position.
Explain why the issue/topic is important. Go beyond just stating I agree with the

Your Position/Introduction:

After understanding that technology integrate in teaching is must, principals need to keep
track it closely. But it will be ineffective if he principal falls behind the staff members as
the expectation is that principals encourage and lead them. The best way to achieve that is
to share some google docs maybe and then encourage them to use google docs.

2. What does the literature/research say about this issue/topic? Conduct NAU

Brief Literature Review:

The importance and relevance of applying technology in teaching and the role of
successful principals on realizing that is critical. There are 7 ways mentioned as habits of
principals who are also technology leader in their schools (Demski, J. (2012). These
seven habits are ;
1- Create an Atmosphere That Inspires Innovation
2- Foster Collaboration
3- Be Open to New Ideas
4- Be a Connected Learner Yourself
5- Locate and Provide Adequate Resources
6- Take Risks
7- Have a Visionary Focus
The expert view is stated first then the 3 principals are asked to share their experience on
realizing these habits. The three principals are Patrick Larkin, Principal at Burlington
High School in Burlington, MA
2- Eric Sheninger, Principal at New Milford High School in New Milford, NJ
3- Lyn Hilt, Principal at Brecknock Elementary School in Denver, PA.

3. Provide at least one example regarding your topic from a school you are
familiar with. If you are not working in a school, how would you implement your
ideas on this issue to your career? Be specific with your examples. You can
mention software/hardware names and specific methods that you plan to use. (At
least 1 paragraph)
Examples:

1- Be open to new ideas: According to this view principal and administration should
understand that not all good ideas come from the administration team.
We were talking about fostering the relation among staff members and try to put
some activities. Those activities mostly were in afterschool or weekend. There was
always no or low participation. The, one of the teachers offered an idea that if the
school could provide snack to teachers during the 7th period. First, administrations
were divided in two if this was to be disturbing class. But, then it was decided to
do that. Next day we got very positive emails from the staff showing their
happiness. So, it was very simple idea but it worked efficiently to help
teambuilding in the school.
