Prequel of Harrison Bergeron
In the year of 2050, the great World War IV had ended. The cause of the World War was
of the communists countries. The countries wanted to take over the world and caused
destruction. The anti-communists countries had won the war and wanted the world to stay at
peace; for there wont be any more sadness or death and despair. These things always ruin the
world and what it is; until great mind had created a thought that would change the world.
It started when a new leader had been elected. The leader is a man named Solomon; a
man that had a vision of equality and world peace. When he won the election to be the new
leader, he had made a speech that made people admire him, the speech was named, The Vision
of Peace. Everyone believed him; everyone had worshipped this speech and the idea of equality.
Equality the one word, that people thought was the answer to end all the darkness in the world,
and to change the world forever.
Everyone believed this; everyone wanted the world to change. So there wont be any
more despair and death. No more sadness, no more darkness. So Solomon also known as, The
Founder of Peace, made another foolish idea and that idea is handicaps. These handicaps will
help everyone to be equal, for everyone not to be better than anyone else. The world has to be
one and one in all. Once the handicaps were made, everyone in the world had to take a skills test.
A test to see what kind of handicaps will the person need. It took months for everyone to get
their handicaps and if everyone would obey. If they didnt obey they would be called a criminal.

They will not get to have a chance to plead, for they were sent to be in jail right away. They
would stay there, until they agree to be equal with all the people in the world. After a year
Solomon had picked retired military people to be Handicap Generals, these people would help
Solomon to keep everyone equal and no one will take their handicaps off. People that didnt
believe in Solomon and his ideas would rebel and would cause great disruption. These people
continued until Solomon and everyone had stopped believing in equality. But the people had
failed and were sent to jail or to be sentenced to death. Anyone who would think different will
have rings or chimes in their ears by the handicaps to forget. This age is known as the, Great
Age, were everyone is equal. The laws had been changed and the Constitution had new
amendments added to it, to make sure everyone followed the laws. Everyone had to follow the
government, the government is the problem for they are always trying to control for the greater
good and for a better world. They are selfish with power, the power that had changed the world,
the power to make people less than them. They abused the power and they think what theyre
doing is right. Will I think they are fools and we should go back to the life we had before.
Thats what had happened to this world, which was once beautiful. It used to have so
much life and uniqueness. But the government had changed that. They changed everything, with
their foolish minds. My name is Harrison Bergeron; I want the world to go back the way it was.
The beauty in difference, were no one is the same. The people who rebelled was correct, they
knew what the world was coming to. I want to continue were they left off. I will show the world,
how the government had brainwashed us. They think equality can solve everything, what fools
they are. Everyone has a gift and they should share it. No one is the same, we are unique. I will
help the world, I will show that we are made to be different, we are made to be unique, and we
have our own freedom.
