Dream Career
I love helping people, teaching and building things. I would like to incorporate these
things into my career after school. I am going to pursue the career of construction management,
police officer, or a high school algebra teacher. Either of these careers would be doing what I
like to do; either helping, teaching or building.
My first choice of my career after school would have to be construction management.
Construction management is ideal for someone who has a general interest in building and design.
Construction managers also obtain work permits, hire contractors, troubleshoot emergencies,
schedule walkthroughs and keep clients informed on work timetables and progress. To move
further in your career it will help to have a bachelor's degree in construction science, construction
management, architecture, or engineering (construction management).
In 2012, the average salary for construction management was $90,960. The median
salary was $82,790, the highest-paid in the profession made $144,520. The Bureau of Labor
Statistics forecasts 1.6 million new jobs by 2022, and 79,000 new construction management jobs
specifically. To move up the ladder some people start out as carpenters and work their way up.
But it is becoming increasingly important that those entering this line of work have both real-life
experience and a college education (construction manager).
My second choice for my lifetime career would have to be a police officer. It can help to
achieve a associate or bachelors degree in criminal justice, law enforcement or anything related

can be helpful to becoming a police officer. They are usually required for state or agency jobs.

academy for training (Requirements Becoming a Police Officer).
Most agencies require you to be 21, some will take cadets as young as 18. Academy
programs generally last 3-4 months and combine classroom and hands on training. Academies
have classes on civil rights, state and local laws, incident reporting, crime investigating,
constitutional law, and criminal psch. most agencies require a high school diploma or a GED at
minimum. Any education after high school will always help further your career. What you need
to move up varies by each agency (Requirements Becoming a Police Officer).
I have always been good at math and if I for some reason do not pursue any other career I
will become an algebra teacher. I love teaching people new things and I think that I could be
great at teaching. Individuals who would like become math teachers need to have the ability to
caify material in a manner that students of every aptitude level can grasp. Future math teachers
need communication skills and listening abilities. Teachers plan lessons, tach large number of
kids, and evaluate student work and assess student progress (How to Become a High School
Math Teacher).
Many potential math teachers earn a degree in mathematics before entering a education
program. Some, however, earn dual majors in education and mathematics while others major in
education with a concentration in mathematics. A future teacher must attend one semester
working in a classroom under the supervision of an experienced instructor. They must take and
pass one ore more rigorous exams tha evaluate their knowledge (What Type of Education do

Right now,construction management is the most desirable position . It is a promising

career according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Based on the information it is projected to
accumulate 79,000 new construction management jobs. There will always be a need for cops
and teachers and those are both good careers to pursue. Which ever career, I know that after high
school I will go to college for either construction management, police officer, or a high school
algebra teacher.
