1. Minimum distance centre to centre of tracks.

(i) For existing works

4265mm (at grade, for straight alignment)

(ii) For new works/additions to existing works

5300mm (at grade, for straight alignment)

Minimum distance between exiting and new foundation

As per IS: 1904-1986:Minimum horizontal spacing between existing and new footing shall be equal to the width of wider one
(for open foundations).
As per 2911(part I/sec 2) -1979:See Clause no. 5.2 (page no. 8), when working near existing structures care shall be taken to avoid any
damage to such structures. In the case of cased bored pile care shall be taken to avoid effect due to loss
of ground.
In case of deep excavations adjacent to piles, proper shoring or other suitable arrangement shall be
done to guard against the lateral movement of soil stratum or releasing the confining soil stress.
