Stop Police Brutality
We must come together raise our voices and protest against police brutality so we can
stop police from hurting innocent people. Police brutality affects the family of the victim
because, the police are here to protect and serve, but instead they are making families suffer
when families lose a loved one this can happen by getting shot, beaten, or strangled by a police
officer. The first thing citizens and the community should do is go on strike because of the
brutality and secondly try to convince their governor of the state to put new laws in to place.
In addition what the community should do is gather together with the families of the victims
and stand in front of the police department to protest about wanting justice for the families. The
community and the victims families should sent letters to the governor stating they want new
laws in to place because of the brutal acts that the police have done. Laws like, police arent
allowed to use excessive force to put a person down to the grown of needed only if they clearly
see that their live is really in danger. A New York City man named Eric Garner was put in to a
choke hold by a police officer and he died later that day due to his injuries. This was the police
officers fault what he should have done is not think about his size of Eric because it is sure thats
what they first noticed and they saw him as a threat that can do damage so once he refused to do
what the police asked him to do they attacked him.

Even though there are many protests against Police Brutality, this problem never goes away
because innocent people are being abused by the law. This problem is not just in the United
States but in other countries around the world. The issue with the police is they dont know how
to control themselves for example in New York where this man named Eric Garner was minding
his own business when he was approached by police officers they started to ask him questions
and because this guy didnt agree with the police they took him down to the ground in a choke
hold. The man kept saying I cant breathe police officers did not pay attention. He passed away
then died moments later due to his injuries. By (Deborah E. Bloom and Jareen Imam, CNN)

A person gets to wear a badge on their shirt they think they have power and control over
anyone they come across, even if that person isnt breaking the law. There are a lot of reasons
why some police officers do what they do. It can be from racism to officers having mental
illnesses. The family of a victim of police brutality can be affected if one of their loved ones
were to get beaten by the police purposely. The family might struggle financially to pay the
hospital bills.
In another instance, such as the victim dying due to a gunshot wound there is no doubt that
the family will try to get justice and try to put this police officer in prison for murder or
manslaughter. The family may start a protest against this issue just like it happened in the wellknown case of Michal Brown. Every person would react different to this situation. Families and
communities want to stop police officers from committing these cruel things on innocent people.
A community can come together and protest against police brutality and to try to convince the
Governor of the State to put new laws in place. To conclude our community needs to come
together and go on strike against police brutality to prevent it.
