Position overview
The Resident Recovery Peer Support Worker will perform a key role within the
Resident Recovery Program to facilitate and support client participation in creative
and innovative leisure activities that are consistent with their recovery goals.

The Resident Recovery Peer Support Worker will work closely alongside a Resident
Recovery Leisure Coordinator and other Program staff to develop and facilitate
meaningful leisure and lifestyle activities.

The Resident Recovery Program provides support to people with moderate to

severe mental illness residing in boarding house and supported accommodation
facilities in the catchment area of the Royal Brisbane and Women`s Hospital
(RBWH) The Program is funded by Disability Services Qld. (Mental Health Branch)
and is designed around, and highly dependent upon, a shared commitment to
support individuals to meet their recovery goals within a strengths based case
management framework.

The Peer Support Worker will work as part of a team who work alongside clients in
their recovery journey to provide personalised, flexible, responsive, non clinical
support enabling people to maintain a meaningful lifestyle.

Essential Criteria
KSC 1. Demonstrated experience and understanding of the provision of non
clinical support to people living with mental illness residing in
marginalised housing.

KSC 2. Demonstrated understanding of the principles of recovery and how

these apply in planning and facilitating leisure activities for people
with the lived experience of mental illness.

KSC 3. Demonstrated capacity to encourage and support individuals engage

in meaningful activities.

KSC 4. Demonstrated understanding and commitment to quality improvement

processes, including Workplace Health and Safety.

KSC 5. Good written and verbal communication skills..

KSC 6. Relevant qualifications and/or experience in the Human Services
sector

KSC 7. Current First Aid Certificate, drivers licence and police check.
