My Friend the Universe

Look at the sky. We are not alone. The whole universe is friendly to us and conspires only to give
the best to those who dream and work.
I had a friend. A friend that proved the impossible. Showed me the most beautiful things
that men and women were capable of doing. She never told me where she lived or talked about
her family. To me she was the greatest friend anyone could ask for. She was something special I
couldn't let go. She reminded me of the stars in the dark sky. She was the most beautiful thing I
had ever seen and it pained me to see her leave when I most needed her. I could never forgive
myself for not stopping her from leaving but could only regret the things I never did to save her.
I sometimes see her up there in the sky when the stars shine as bright as the sun. During some
nights I can see her smile at me from the sky, telling me not to worry but to move on. Tears fall
from my eyes not from regret but from happiness. Remembering all those memories seem to be
unforgettable moments that will stay with me until I die. The only thing that stays with me is her
name.Universe.
I watch over them everyday, every moment and every second. I can't tell them how much
I fear for them and their future. The only thing I can do is keep everything in balance and stay
mysterious until the right time presents itself. Many fear me others don't. Some know me as the
oldest thing known to mankind others see me as a dark and cold place with no life. I can't
express my feelings, love, fear, happiness or desire to exist as a human. I never understood why I
was given this gift or curse. Im not sure for how much longer I'm going to live for or know my
purpose. Not sure how I came to be or who created me. I watch over you everyday when the sun
is bright and when the moon shines over the dark. I am everything you touch, feel, taste and see.

I am older than the stars you see in the sky, older than space and matter. The things you do I can
feel and the destruction you cause pains me to watch. I am the Universe.
It was in high school when I soon realized a argument can't be won without evidence,
even the things you believe can be wrong or right. I went to church every Sunday to show my
love to God and the bible. My parents were christian and so was I. I read the bible to understand
more about the world and God. During some class periods I got in fights with other students
about the age of the Universe. I believed in the creationist theory and supported everything about
it. Many students laughed at me for believing in something that sounded impossible. Trying to
prove that the Earth, Solar system and the Universe is 6,000 years old seem hard with so little
evidence. I never won an argument or seem to know what evidence I could show in order to
prove I was right. I starting losing hope in the bible. My life seem a lie which made me
depressed in a way I can never forget. I began to ignore the bible and what it told me. My parents
came to notice my attitude against the bible and the church. I told them what I felt and they
seemed to understand. My dad told me the answers may reveal themselves some day and when
they do we must be ready. I began to think clearly and everything went to go back to normal. It
wasnt until one day when I was laying on the roof of my house when the sky was dark, that I
saw a girl falling from the sky onto Earth.
I couldn't resist it any longer. Everything that existed seemed to be calling me from a
planet that contained life. I concentrated everything I had in order to understand what was
happening to me. I looked over the planet which seem peaceful and beautiful. I could hear and
feel everything this living species could do. I wanted to become one of them, learning what other
life I can have. I began to picture myself as one of them. I focused my energy and power to help
me become something I wanted to be. I could feel the stars all around giving me the energy I

needed. I felt the change in space and my consciousness breaking into two parts. I saw the planet
for one last time and felt all my energy create my new form. What happened next I could not
recall; my form was created and I fell towards the planet. With only a blur I took one last look at
space knowing that I came from the unknown and into the depths of the planet.
I had never seen anything like this before. A teenage girl falling from the sky wasn't
something you see every day. I began to sprint towards where she fell not knowing I was still in
my pajamas. I ran along the sidewalk towards the crash not able to see a thing in the dark. I
ended up in the park where I used to come and play with my neighborhood friends. I began to
search for the girl and found her laying down around a grassy area. I began to walk slowly
toward her. I soon realized she had no scratches, no bruises or broken bones. As I began to walk
towards her I realized how the weather seem to change around her. The air seemed cleaner and
everything was calm and warm. Once I got near her, I kneeled beside her in order to wake her
up. I was about to shake her awake when all of a sudden she opened her eyes and showed me the
unimaginable.
I see stars millions of them in space. I see galaxies and solar systems I never seen before.
I feel my mind being pulled away from me. I try to push myself away but have no strength. I feel
her mind connect with mine. I see the secrets behind everything that existed. I see the beginning
of time and the creation of the Universe, Solar system and Earth. I see stars exploding in order to
create unimaginable images. I see the beginning of earth and the beginning of evolution. I feel
my mind being pushed away and feel myself come together. I blink my eyes and notice I was
staring at her. I step back not knowing what to do. I ask who she was and what she did to me.
She told me my mind connected with hers when I looked into her eyes. I ask how that happened.

She told me her mind was too powerful. I ask her who she is. She shakes uncomfortably and
says, I am the Universe.
She came forward putting her hand on my shoulder. I felt energy run through me feeling
more alive than ever. Her consciousness touched mine and I felt her pain inside me. Why do u
want to feel pain, love and happiness I asked. She looked at me with eyes that changed colors
every second. We all have a purpose in life and mine is more than to keep balance She
responded. I then understood that even the Universe can have its flaws. She seem to to know
what I was thinking. What do u believe in? she asked. I told her that I was lost and now the
Bible can't answer any of my questions. She sat down making the grass smooth and shine. I sat
down with her and explained everything.
You can believe in anything you love. I cannot tell you what is right and what's wrong.
Only you can figure out what u believe in She said. She and I sat there until the sun appeared.
While the sun began to raise she told me she had to leave and explore the world. She wanted to
see what humans did in order to find the truth. We stood up and at that very moment I saw how
beautiful she was. The sun making her skin shine and her eyes shine. I turned away embarrassed.
She looked at me placing her warm hand on my face. She smiled and disappeared.
Months passed and I kept thinking about her. I sat on the roof of my house and looked at
the sky. No stars were shining that night which made me sad. I heard a whisper behind me and
saw her smiling with open arms. I ran up to her and hugged her. I notice he smile fade away and
told me everything. She told me about her discoveries and things that she saw. Something else
bothered her that night. She told me she needed to go back to her natural form. I looked at her
and pushed her away yelling at her for meeting me. She stood there in silence having nothing to

say. She walked towards me looked at me and kissed me in the forehead. I opened my eyes and
she was gone. That same night the stars began to shine leaving me for ever alone.
