Executive Summary
Opening in November 2012, the Aogu Wetland and Forest Park (AWFP) integrates
wildlife sanctuaries, forest park plains, wetlands and forests as well as wetland conservation
and environmental education. With a unique and sustainable development ecological value,
and tourist attractions, the AWFP provides people as ecotourism oriented outdoor
recreation field and diverse ecological connection.
For sharing the process and experience of planning of the AWFP with domestic and foreign
colleges, the International Conference of Wetland Conservation, Education, and Recreation
(ICWCER) is organized to adopt precious operation opinions on AWFP from all walks of life.
The topics of conference cover wetland conservation, environmental education, and
ecotourism. The experts, scholars, and NGO representatives related to these topics are
invited to ICWCER.
This conference is a project under Chiayi Forest District Office, Forest Bureau. Its
implemented by Natural Trail Association, ROC. KSNP was representatives of MNS to share
how NGO managing a park and ecotourism site wetland area best management.

In the launching ceremony of the forum, Director General Li T.S & Magistrate Chang
H.-K, event organizer give an opening statement and welcoming address, he talked about
the result of population and economic development issues, to the enormous global impact
of the environment, how to develop an education material to educate the community to
change their attitude to more be an environmental stewards. He also mention that Asia as
the most influential continent in the world, which will effect the entire effort of
environmental protection. So, this was a platform for all various Asian countries to get
together and solve the problem before it become critical. He too mentioned about Taiwan
Forestry Department in involvement in AOGU Wetland park creation and their long term
plan.
The first presentation done by Dr. Frans Vera from Netherland, he present about
Oostvaardersplassen (Beyond the horizon of the familiar) wetland park species
management and research projects, and answered questions from the audience. Then, the
representative from Malaysia MNS (Malaysian Nature Society) present a presentation on
Kuala Selangor Nature Park as an Ecotourism site management and Wetland area
management, potential Centre in RAMSAR site (wetland park) and conserving/protecting
east Asian Australia flyway route. The presentation includes how KSNP protect KSNP and
Kuala Selangor Wetland site via environmental education & Conservation activity at Kuala
Selangor Nature Park. Other than these 2 groups there also other group namely below
includes their presentation titles:

The first days, the participant was brought to Augo wetland for site visit and
introduced the important of the Aogu Wetland area and the history of the Aogu creation
and the community involvement. The participant also able to see the Black Faced
Spoonbilled at Wetland area, it was endangered species.
In the final closing ceremony, the organizers announced to sign an Aogu convention to
declare Aogu Wetland as international important wetland area based on RAMSAR
convention concept.
The success of this event affirmed MNS effort in KSNP in on-going Wetland management
and environmental education comprehensive practical activities, and at the same time it
also proved the KSNP special role as a responsibility person to become the leaders or guide
in environmental education for local community. The road is long, each step is not
necessarily a huge success, but every step forward toward the realm of the ideal and this is
the wish of every member of the park.
