STUDENT LEARNING FINAL

At the end of the semester I have been able to reflect on how great of a
experience this has been to serve in the education community. Through the final weeks
of the semester of my service learning I will reflect and explore my observation
experiences from weeks eight through ten.
At this point in my service learning Ive been thinking of ways I can incorporate
myself in the classroom using different ways to be effective. The last three weeks I
worked with the students in spanish class, literacy and math tests, and the activities
they chose to work on. I continued to be involved with helping students create ways of
learning by asking questions directly and indirectly. I used the object tools in Mrs.
Stevens class room to instruct students in other ways to solve problems and stretch
their imagination. I saw different levels of knowledge from every student. Some were
very visual learners, others were auditory learners and a lot of them are kinesthetic and
hands on type of learners. As weve progressed through the school year Ive naturally
begun to understand the different students and how one student may need to learn a
more constructive way of learning a lesson.
The gain in knowledge and understanding of the different styles of learning
helped me to appreciate learning a step further. As I child I was never an auditory
learner, but more of a kinesthetic style learner. I struggled through assignments that
were not hands or visual.. By continuing to learn the different styles of learning and
being able to create a instructional environment for every student to learn will allow for
each student to have the best possible learning experience. Ive now been able to put
myself in the position where I can make a difference in the education community.
