Evolution of Transportation since 1800

Since man has walked, traveled, and explored the world we have been finding faster ways to do so. It
started as horses being domesticated for faster travel and has worked its way up to so much. These days
we have cars, rockets, trains, and so much more, but how did this happen? Since 1800 transportation
has really kicked off, starting in 1801 with a man named Richard Trevithick.
Richard Trevithick was the man to create the first steam locomotive that was originally designed for
roads. After his ingenious design people started to really work on the way we travel. 1807 was a good
year for transportation, the first passenger able steamboat was released and in use as well as the first
gas powered vehicle, powered by hrdrogen. In 1814 the first steam powered locomotive for railroads
that was able to work was introduced by George Stephenson and was beginning to be built. In 1815
steamships started crossing the English chanel. In 1825 the first passenger railroad was opened, leading
with Stephensons locomotive design.
The Steam locomotive was the astonishment of the early 1800s but there was more going on, like in
London there was omnibuses pulled by horses running passengers. In 1838 a steamship crossed the
Atlantic in only 19 days, also the first elevated railroad was built in London. Everything changed in 1840
when a network of railroads was built across Britain. 23 years later things took back off when the first
underground railroad was opened, powered by steam, in London. One year before that the first gas
powered automobile was created by Jean Lenoir. In 1867 the first motorcycle was created, by 78 it was
being built for public use. By 1871 the first cable car was created. The last two things that really
happened in the 1800s to help transportation was in the 1890s and that was the first electric
underground train in London and the steam turbine making anything powered by steam much more
efficient.
So much happened in 1800 but in 1900 even more technology came out making transportation go sky
high and even to the moon! In 1903 the Wright brothers invented the first airplane powered by engine,
this changed the way everyone looked at travel and by 1919 passengers were using airplanes. In 1907
the first helicopter design was created, it was unsuccessful. 1908, the assembly line is improved by Ford
and automobile production skyrockets making them available for everyone. Also in 1908 the first
hydrofoil boats were created, they were mindblowing to many because they skimmed across the water.
In 1926 the first liquid propelled rocket was launched. In 1940 we finally got the helicopter design down
and put it up for assembly. Seven years after the helicopter the first supersonic jet was released. In 1956
the first hovercraft design was though of. By 64 the bullet train was invented and ready for use. In 1964
the USA sent the first rocket to the moon, this was groundbreaking and the first rocket to make it
spacebound. In 1970 the jumbojet was invented. In 1981 the space shuttle was launched.
As you can see we came a long way since the 1800s, we went from steam locomotives to launching men
to the moon.
