    The paper discusses evaluating the dynamic forces due to seismic loading for an elevated water

    tank. The calculations are done based on GSDMA guidelines/IS draft code provisions.Base shear and
    base moment are evaluated for various response reduction factors and for various seismic
    zones.However nothing new is brought out in the present study, as these are based on established
    equations mentioned in the above guidelines/code.
    Further attempt was also made to compare the results of base shear and base moments for various
    tank capacities based on GSDMA guidelines and EC 8 part IV provisions which shows the results have
    good matching.
