Dr. Gay Ivey

Gay Ivey is the Tasha F. Morgridge Chair in


Reading and Literacy at the University of
Wisconsin-Madison. After happily serving as a
middle school reading specialist in
Charlottesville, Virginia, she completed her
Ph.D. in Reading Education at the University of
Georgia. She held positions at Rutgers
University, the University of Maryland at
College Park, and James Madison University
before joining the faculty of the Department
of Curriculum & Instruction at UW-Madison in
the Fall of 2012. Her research centers on reimagining English/Language Arts classrooms
to make them more responsive and engaging
to inexperienced readers and writers, with a
particular focus on texts that matter to
students.
