HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!
W.E.B/Reading (supports standards 3E1a.4 and 3E1b,c)
It is important, not only that you read for homework, but also that you read aloud to an adult so
that they can guide you in building fluency and comprehension. This can be done as a bedtime
routine. To assist with that, please log into RAZKIDS.com and read a different story each night.
Some of you may need to read each story at least 2xs before starting your quiz for comprehension
purposes. All reading and Spelling homework should be completed in HW notebook and will be
checked daily in class.
Monday: Read a story on RAZKIDS, and answer the questions below in complete sentences.
The title is, The characters are, The setting is (be specific here), and The main idea is please be
sure to add details here, dont just the say the book was about How to fly a kite, be sure to tell
what they did to fly the kite. We are now in the second semester of the year. They will be
required to do more writing both at home and in class.
Tuesday Read a different story from RAZKIDS
Write the events of the story in sequential order; please be sure to start each sentence as shown
below: You may write in paragraph form, but please use the transition words below. For example
What happens first in the story was that.finish with, last.

Wednesday: Writing Prompt How can people help animals that are in danger? Write 4 complete
sentences and include a picture (picture is optional) Examples are always given in class

Spelling
Spelling this quarter has changed slightly
Monday: write all 10 words using a spelling pyramid Examples provided in class
Tuesday: write all 10 words in ABC order
Wednesday: complete the spelling practice page attached to the packet, bring on Wednesday.
Thursday: study for tomorrows spelling test (show practice test)
Math
In math this week, we began Topic 6: Multiplication Fact Strategies: Use Known Facts 6-1
Multiplication 3 as a Factor
For homework:
Monday-Thursday: Complete math worksheet included in the packet and return Friday morning.

Please note* I check spelling and reading homework daily, and should be completed in their HW
notebook. Please be sure that they bring the packet daily, I will be checking for spelling practice page.

Spelling
The first day of each school week, students will take a Pre-Test on the first 15 words on the
weekly word list. They will add any words they missed from the pre-test to their spelling list.
If they missed more than 6 words, they will have the first 10 words. If they miss less than 6
words, they will have the rest of their spelling words from the Challenge or Amazing Words to
make a list of 10 words.
