A PROJECT REPORT ON THE POTENTIAL OF ECO TOURISM SITES IN THE STATE OF ODISHA FOR

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT.

In case of services marketing achieving a sustainable development over a period of time is a


challenging task because of the unique characteristics of services like intangibility, perishability,
variability and inseparability.
In a state like Odisha where the normal economic standard is very poor, developing a particular
offering and sustain it over a period of time is very necessary to generate long term revenue.
The state of Odisha has abundant mineral resources, numerous natural /scenic places which has
been ignored either knowingly or unknowingly by the authorities.
Some of the sites that are associated with eco-tourism activities in the state of Odisha are
Bhitarkanika, chilika, Hirakud Marine drive, Ramchandi, Simpali Tiger Reserve, Nandankanan
Zoological Park, Chandaka-Damapara Sanctuary, Debrigarh Sanctuary, Kuldiha Sanctuary, Tikerpada
in Satakosia Tiger Reseve, Gahirmath, Koraput hills, Mangalajodi, Daringibadi , bramhapura,
balikhand ,ansupa,saptasaya.

We, as students of hospitality and tourism management are having the responsibility of contribution
towards the tourism scenario in the state of Odisha for developing and sustaining it over a period of
time.
Therefore we are planning to conduct a study on the various eco-tourism sites in detail of Odisha so
that proper strategies can be made for the overall development of those sites.
Its a kind of two-way sword where one part will help the authorities to develop the sites which will
attract the customers and generate revenue and on the other part it will help the local people to
earn their living respectfully. Also it will help the tourists to explore new avenues which may be
different from the usual places.
So it will be a kind of win-win situation for all the stake holders related to the tourism industry.
Therefore we are proposing to conduct this study in a period of 3 months from January to March 15.
Our F&B management faculties Mr.Akshaya Kumar Samal, has given his consent to be our project
guide for the above mentioned study.
We are indebted towards our institute for letting us conduct this study.
