HOME MAKING

House-building Terms:

Attic- space directly to the roof and above the ceiling.


Ceiling Joists- beams that rest on the top plate of the stubs and support the ceiling.
Conduit- tube that protect electrical wires.
Dry Wall- interior wall finish made in panels of dry materials specially gypsum.
Frame- the skeleton around which the rest of the house is built.
Foundation- supports the house.
Girder- heavy piece of timber or steel used for support.
Header- beam perpendicular to the joists.
Joists- beams that support floors and ceilings.

STEPS in BUILDING HOUSE:


1. Pick a lot.
2. Analyze the space requirement of your family.
3. Determine what budget you can afford.
4. Choose the house model you like.
5. Consider alternate designs.
6. Go find the money
7. Secure a building permit
8. Recruit your builders.

PARTS of the HOUSE:


1. LIVING ROOM
-It is usually considered the largest and the most difficult and the most expensive
to decorate.
-It can also be a multi- purpose room.
2. Kitchen
-It is the cooking area of the house.
3. Dining Area
-It is an area in the house where the family eats.
4. Bathroom
-It is the most private of all rooms in the house.
5. Bedroom
-It is a space served for retiring.
6. One-Room Living

HOME MAINTENANCE
-All actions which have the objective retaining or restoring an item in or to a state in which it
can perform its required function.
-The actions include the combination of all technical and corresponding administrative,
managerial, and supervision actions."

The things that must be checked in order for the house to be well maintained are:

Sink/Tub Stoppers and Drain Holes
Water Softener

Every 6 Months

Smoke Detector
Toilet
Interior caulking
Faucet
Wiring

Anually

Roof
Gutters and Downspouts
Window and Door Screens
Septic Tank
