Coniferous Forests

Coniferous forests are trees that grow needles instead of leaves,


and cones instead of flowers. Conifers tend to be evergreen which
means they have needles all year long.

Some of the more common conifers are


spruces, pines, and firs.

Coniferous forest regions have cold,


long, snowy winters, and warm, humid
summers.

Deciduous trees Their leaves change


colors in the fall.

As the seasons change, so do the colors


of the leaves of the deciduous. During
the winter months water is not available
to keep the leaves of some plants alive.
Therefore, the leaves of some plants fall
off and grow back in the spring.

Then they lose their leaves in the


winter.
