CoR Plenary Session
Local and regional politicians across Europe adopted an opinion on the successful implementation
of the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) at the December plenary of the Committee of the
Regions (CoR). The opinion, drafted by Olgierd Geblewicz (PL/EPP), Marshal of the West Pomerania
region, calls for more flexibility, regional funding and an appropriate involvement of regional and
local authorities.

European Council President Donald Tusk welcomes Ukraines new government
Donald Tusk, the new President of the European Council, has congratulated Ukraines President
Petro Poroshenko on the successful installation of the new government that brings hope for
further stepping up much needed political and economic reforms. In a statement following his
telephone call with Poroshenko today, Tusk welcomed the new cabinets ambition to tackle the
economic crisis through a robust reform process and pledged the EUs readiness to continue
standing by Ukraine in these efforts.

Lebrun and Hahn discuss territorial dimension of the European Neighbourhood Policy
Michel Lebrun, President of the Committee of the Regions (CoR), met Johannes Hahn in his new role
as Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) and Enlargement Negotiations. During
the meeting President Lebrun presented the CoRs' ideas on how to increase the commitment and
ability of local and regional authorities to serve the goals of the ENP.

Practices and experience in conducting credibility assessments in asylum procedures will be on the
agenda of an expert meeting of the Eastern Partnership Panel on Migration and Asylum that will

Association Agreement Civil Society Platforms with Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia
should follow common model, says EaP Civil Society Forum in Batumi
The Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum (EaP CSF) has welcomed the launch of the work that
should lead to the establishment of bilateral civil society platforms (CSPs) under the Association
Agreements (AAs) between the EU on one side and Ukraine, Moldova, and Georgia on the other.
These platforms should follow a common model identical for the three countries, said participants
of the 6th Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum, held on 21-22 November in Batumi, Georgia.

EU supports Decentralisation and Regional Policy reforms in Ukraine with 55 millions
Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn,
and Valery Pyatnitsky, Acting Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, signed a
Financing Agreement to launch a new programme "Support to Ukraine's Regional Policy".

Ukraine: EU disburses 260 million of Macro-Financial Assistance
The European Commission has disbursed a 260 million loan to Ukraine as part of the EU MacroFinancial Assistance (MFA) facility for the country. These funds add to an earlier loan of 600
million, extended since May this year under the two ongoing EU MFA programmes, which leaves a
further amount of 750 million available under the 1.61 billion EU MFA loan.

Eastern Partnership territorial cooperation: future partners from Armenia and Georgia
invited to apply for cross border projects
Local authorities, communities and civil society organisations from the neighbouring regions of
Armenia and Georgia are being invited to apply for joint cross-border projects in the framework of
the Eastern Partnership Territorial Cooperation Programme (EaPTC), which has an overall budget of
1.35 million for the two countries. Potential partners from the Shirak, Lori and Tavush regions of
Armenia together with partners from the Kvemo Kartli and Samtskhe-Javakheti regions of Georgia
can apply for grants until 3 February 2015, a press release said.

Combines European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), European Investment Bank

Eastern Partnership Territorial Cooperation Support Programme

Press pack: Supporting media, a cornerstone of freedom
Support for a free and independent media is a high priority in EU cooperation with its
