Chalk Talk in Room 12

Lets Recap!
Reading: The students read and analyzed longer realistic fiction texts while
identifying its story elements. We also learned how to correctly summarize a text
by using the strategy Somebody, Wanted, But, So, Then. We will have our Unit 4
Assessment next week on Analyzing Story Elements. Also, at the end of the week
we learned a strategy called Prompt Attack when answering constructed response
questions. This strategy helps us to fully answer the question correctly and
completely. We also began our second session of Acuity Assessments.
Word Work: This week focused on V/CV, VC/V, and VV/CV syllable patterns. We
had to identify the different syllable patterns and apply it within our writing.

Lets Recap!...Continued
Writing: We began drafting our
Realistic Fiction stories with a
focus on story elements and
writing a strong ending. We also
were introduced to how and when
adverbs. We applied what we
learned by writing sentences using
one spelling word and one adverb
in each sentence.
Math: This week we focused on
multiplication strategies when
multiplying different factors. We
color coded our 0-100
multiplication table based on the
strategies we learned. We also
worked on multiplication story
problems.
Health: We wrapped up our unit
on healthy eating. We ended our
unit with reading different food
labels and comparing food labels.
