2:30 PM ~ CONCLUSION
In this session, Pastors, Faith Formation Leaders,
and Catechists will be given models for catechesis
and skills for discerning abilities, materials, and
placement in catechetical and sacramental
programs. Techniques for overcoming classroom
distractions will be explored and tools for creating a
welcoming environment at Mass and in classrooms
will be offered. Opportunity will be given to discuss
particular challenges. Lunch is provided.

7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
This session will help parents better understand
their childs capacity for catechesis and
sacraments. Information about parents rights
as an advocate for their children within the
Church and their faith community and where they
can get support when they are feeling
unheard. This workshop will also serve as
a tool for parent networking.

As part of the daytime session , Loyola press. will


be presenting curriculum material and resources
which can be used for catechizing children and youth
with disabilities.
At registration, participants will be given a link to
download and print off some of the United States Conference of
Catholic Bishops statements and to share at this workshop one or
two statements from these documents which particularly touch them.

Dr. Nancy Thompson


Dr. Thompson is the Director of Programs
and Diocesan Relations at National
Catholic Partnership on Disability since
2007. She completed her doctorate in
applied ministries in 2000 with an
emphasis that included ministry with
people having disability.

Ms. Janice Benton, SFO


Ms. Benton has served as Executive
Director of National Catholic Partnership
on Disability since May 2004. She has
25 years experience in the field of ministry and advocacy for and with persons
with disabilities. Most recently
Ms. Benton presented at the
Vatican on the topic of autism.
