HEALTH & PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Teacher:AdrienneDiSipio Unit Title: Puberty

Lesson # 1 of 1. Title: Jeopardy
Grade level: 7 Duration of class: 45mins Number of students: approx. 25

A. Lesson Context
Rationale (relevance of lesson to unit): Students will be working together as a team to answer
questions about puberty/reproduction that they learned from watching a video and completing
their packets. Reviewing as a team allows students to feel more comfortable answering

present their
Anticipated difficulties and how they will be addressed: Students who do not know the
information well enough can use their group to help with the answer.
Resources, Equipment and Materials: computer, internet, projector, marker (for score keeping)

4) If answered correctly in given time frame- team earns points

5) If answered incorrectly or time runs out, they lose those points and the next
team to hold up their team card gets a chance to answer.
6) If questions is not answered correctly for a second time, one of the 2 remaining
teams gets a chance.
7) If no team answers correctly, questions is discarded.
** Remind students that this is for fun and is a different way to review the information in
a semi-competitive way.
Learning Focus Activities:
Depending on the amount of students, split up extra tables into the front 3 tables and
middle back table to make 4 groups as even as possible.
Students will have 1-2 minute(s) to decide who is going to be: Explain each before
letting students choose.
The Facilitator- keeps group on task
The Recorder- keeps track of timer
The Summarizer- double checks answer, in control of packet
The Presenter- answers the question
When time is up, call out each of the team jobs and have each student stand up so all
can see who is responsible for each.
Bring up game: http://www.jeopardy.rocks/7thgradepubertyandreproduction_disipio
--A number from 1-20 is drawn, team with closest guess starts game.
Teacher over sees allby reading the questions, seeing which team raises team card
first, keeping score
Culminating Activity: Look at points. Determine winning team. Talk about packet
Closure: Tell students they all did an excellent job and to go back to their seats.
