I- AIM AND OBJECT:
The Master of Fine Arts courses in Painting, Plastic Arts, Applied Arts, Ceramic Pottery &
Textile Design is designed for the Graduate students who wish to prepare themselves
professionally in the respective fields of Fine Arts.

PRACTICAL
Each of the above subjects will be of 400 marks in Previous and 400 marks in Final. During
MFA(Previous) & M.F.A.(Final) the student will choose his/her Supervisor for the Practical
Subjects and work under his supervision. The student will select area of Practical study in
consultation with the Supervisor and at the end of each Academic session arrange the exposition of
his art works for evaluation.

The Quota of MFA students for the Practical work under the teachers in each discipline will be
decided at Deans level.

NOTE :
Paper III in Theory of M.F.A. (Final) will be Dissertation and Viva-Voce. The dissertation will
be a report based on practical work done by the students to be prepared under the supervision of
his/her guide (for practical) of minimum 10 typed pages.
VIII SPECIAL NOTES:
75% of attendance in theory as well as in Practical courses will be compulsory for all M.F.A.
students. The assignment in each of the practical subjects will be given by the supervisor
and at least two External Examiners. The H.O.D. of the concerning Departments will be the
Chairman of the Board.
Defects shall be removed by grinding till it disappears and ensure with any of NDE Technique.
Covering of defects by grinding, plugging, chipping, etc. shall be strictly prohibited.
Minor and Major repairs shall be documented by means of sketches showing the location and
dimensions of defects .
Major repair should be carried out after getting approval from qa head
During welding
iii) Evaluation of Dissertation & Viva voce :
The Dissertation will be evaluated by and the Viva-Voce be conducted by the same panel of
external Practical Examiner.
X- CLASSIFICATION OF RESULT, DIVISION & MERIT :
i) The merit will be declared on the basis of marks secured be student in University examination.

ii) The following shall be minimum percentage of pass in M.F.A. Previous & Final examinations :
A- Theory
B- Practical
C- General aggregate
50%
The following shall be prescribed as minimum percentage for the declaration of results:
First division

Second division
.. 50%
Honours
NOTE :
No division will be mentioned in the result of the M.F.A. Previous Examination.
Candidate will be declared to have passed or failed in the respective examination.
XI- ORDINANCES FOR :
i) SUPPLEMENTARY EXAMINATIONS
M.F.A. FINAL
A candidate who fails or fails to appear either in 1st or IInd or in both (I & II) theory papers of
M.F.A. Final Examinations will be allowed to appear in Supplementary Examination.
A candidate who fails or fails to appear in IIIrd theory paper he/she shall be required to clear the
paper in ensuing Regular Examination as an Ex student .
ii) PROMOTION
M.F.A. PREV.
A candidate who fails or fails to appear at the M.F.A. (Prev.) in theory papers shall be promoted
to M.F.A. Final. The student promoted to M.F.A. Final Year Courses shall be required to clear the
paper in which he/she failed in M.F.A. Prev. along with his/her Final Year Examinations.
NOTE :
1-
A student who fails or fails to appear in practical paper in M.F.A. Prev. Examination or in M.F.A.
Final Examination he/she will appear in ensuing Regular Examination as a non-collegiate.
2-
If a candidate fails or fails to appear in Supplementary Examination(s) (theory) too he/she will be
allowed to appear in ensuing Regular Examination as a non-collegiate student.

To pass in practical is essential at M.F.A. Previous level for promotion to M.F.A. Final.

In M.F.A. Final the students will do advance work in the subject in which the student worked in
Previous year.
B- M.F.A. TEXTILE DESIGN:
Professional Investigation and involvement in any one subject of the following:
1- Textile Designing and Weaving.
C- Repair welding shall be done neither after completion valve assembly nor after pressure testing.
D- Carry out repair appropriately as described in qualified procedures.
E- For major repair, the weld area shall be preheated and the pre heating temperature shall be
maintained throughout the repair process.
12- Dyeing and Printing
The student will investigate on the basis of his previous study in the field of Textile Design and
Weaving/Dyeing and Printing Art. He/she will work in Banarasi Weaving and Designing,
Jamdani, Paithani, Chanderi and Shawls etc. and on the basis of his/her experiments of colour,
texture, design etc. he/she will work on his/her chosen subjects aesthetically. He/she will acquire
a knowledge of different types of looms. In M.F.A. Final the students will do advanced work in
the subject in which they worked in the previous year.
F- PLASTIC ARTS :
Professional investigation and involvement in two major media: Stone, Wood, Bronze,
Terracotta, Welded Sculpture, Fiber glass, Papermeshy, Mixed media etc. (Choice of the media
depend upon the availability of the same in the Department). The student will choose and plan
his work in consultation with his/her supervisor. Each student will have to prepare and present at
least five works depending on size. In M.F.A. Final, the student will do advance work in the
media in which the student worked in the previous year.
G- POTTERY-CERAMICS :
Candidates of Pottery-Ceramics(M.F.A. Previous and Final) will choose either of the following:
1- Pottery-Ceramics 2- Ceramic Mural/Sculpture

The students will investigate on the basis of his/her previous study in the field of PotteryCeramic Designing relying on his/her earlier work in designing, glazing/firing of earth ware and
stoneware.
In M.F.A. Final the students will do advanced work in the media in which student worked in the
previous year.
H- APPLIED ARTS
Candidates admitted in M.F.A. Applied Arts will select any one of the following practical
subjects for specialization in both Previous and Final year.
1 Visualization and Campaign Planning.
2 Book Design & Book Illustration.
BOOK DESIGN & ILLUSTRATION (M.F.A. Prev. & Final) will involve:) (i)
Typography & Book Design; (ii) Story Illustration for children and for Adults; (iii)
Editorial Illustration; (iv) Industrial Illustration; (v) Press Illustration
