Advanced Ag Studies Movie Critique

Situation: Films are a catalyst (Clemens, 1999). They make you laugh, cry,
cheer, and think. Flaum (2002) stated leadership is best learned in the leadership
moment. In other words, you cannot truly utilize your knowledge on ethics until
you are dealing with an ethical dilemma. Simulations work but observing real
situations is the next best thing to being in the situation yourself. This is where
movies come in.
Assignment: Your assignment is to choose a movie and complete the following
criteria. Remember that you must use references from the class text (Powerpoints
& The Leadership Challenge). Use these questions to guide your writing: Who are
the leaders/followers in the movie? How does the leader take charge? What
advice would you give the leader to make him/her more effective? Is there an
example of a bad leader? What qualities/strengths do the leaders (good/bad) and
followers possess. Etc.
A good format to use is the essay format. This is a format in which you use an introductory
paragraph to introduce the topics and the elements about which you will be writing. The final
one or two paragraphs are the conclusion, in which you bring all the elements together to
illustrate how they tie in with one another and how they apply to you as a leader. Your paper
should be 2-3 pages in length for this portion of the final.
