TFA Final Project

Solving Linear Inequalities

Learning Goals:

Pursue individual passion through exploration, skill development and/or service.

Use prior knowledge to explore authentic problems that require critical and/or creative
thinking.
Deliberately use language (written, verbal, numerical, and symbolic) to create expression
and communicate feeling.
Analyze ones own work to determine strengths and weaknesses based on established
criteria and determine steps for improvement.
Revise work to hone information, ideas, inquiry and craft.

Enduring Understandings

Mathematicians flexibly use symbols numbers words and visual representations while
maintaining the integrity of the relationship (between quantities).
The most appropriate way to solve a problem or represent a quantity depends on the
situation.
Mathematicians create/use mathematical models to represent and understand quantitative
relationships.
Mathematicians use precise language throughout the problem solving process.
Mathematicians use the rules of logic and appropriate tools to draw/explain/demonstrate
valid conclusions.

Essential Questions

What does this number/quantity/expression/value mean? What are the ways to represent
it? Is there a best way?
How do I use what I know to solve the problem/display the function?
