Mexican Texas is the name given by Texas history scholars
to Texas during the period between 1821 and 1836, when
Texas was an integral part of Mexico. The period began with
Mexico's victory over Spain in its war of independence in
1821.

Benito Jurez was the leader of the Mexican army. Sam
Houston was the leader of the Texan Army.

Destroyed the Mexicans army.

Texas was a part of the Spanish province of Mexico which
had declared itself independent of Spain. In 1824, when a
considerable number of colonists from the United States
were there, the Mexican government united Coahuila,
previously a separate state, with Texas, and placed a
Mexican as governor over the United States. He treated the

Americans there with great injustice, and some of them,


engaged in a revolution, were compelled to retreat into the
United States in 1827

The main overall cause of the war was border disputes. War
officially started after John C. Fremont built a fort in
California declaring independence.

Mexican army. House to house warfare was the strategy.

The MexicanAmerican War lasted from 1846 until 1848. It
grew out of unresolved border disputes between the
Republic of Texas and Mexico after the United States
annexed Texas nine years after the Texas Revolution. It
ended in 1848 with the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in
which Mexico sold a vast tract of land that amounted to over
half its national territory to the United States.
