Please use this order when searching for audio elements in WMLS:

Reel based electronic files

MOD, DVD
DA-88, 35mm
DAT, A-DAT, , , 2, DASH 24 track, 16mm, 17.5mm(Sound Transfer), HD-Cam, DigiBeta Cam(B78)
D2, DASH 48 track
1C and 1
OSTN Include if this is the only asset available.

Please avoid these formats, they cannot be used for audio work - Laserdisc, Floppy Disc, OSTN, Dolby MOD, D1,
3/4 tape and Betacam SP.

(Shorts) using the WMLS Saved Query, Project 800 Audio gather a group of elements to choose from.
If you use this search you only need to enter the title and language, it also filters out some element
types we want to avoid for this project.

1st search: Sound elements only, electronic and physical elements. If nothing comes up proceed
to 2nd search below.

2nd search: Remove Sound field when nothing is found with the previous search. Video assets
will come up with this search.

If still nothing is coming up try changing the language to "DUAL-ENG/_______". For instance
change from "ITALIAN" to "DUAL-ENG/ITALIAN. This is the last straw, if that doesnt work there is
nothing for this language.

Choosing the best element for P800

1. Format Electronic files are preferred for this project, see hierarchy below for other elements.
2. Location Elements in Burbank are preferable, then the closer the better with UK elements last
in line.
3. Date Made Latest update to Theatrical mix preferred.
4. Previous Use Check request history to see if element has been used before, if so thats a better
choice than one never used.

Hierarchy of source format desirability:

1. (Shorts) Continuous electronic files from the Audio Migration Project. THIS ELEMENT WAS
CREATED AS PART OF THE LIBRARY DIGITIZATION PROJECT. Or something very close should be
in the remarks.
2. Continuous electronic files including Bonus Compilation Reels (ProRes files)
3. Reel based electronic files
At this point pick the best source regardless of source format, if format needs to break a tie use
the order below
4. MOD, DVD Not real time transfers
5. DA-88, 35mm Real time transfers

6. DAT, A-DAT, 1/4, 1/2, 2, 1/2 DASH 24 track, 16mm, 17.5mm (Sound Transfer), HD-Cam,
Beta-Cam (DVD) Any other source we can transfer at Sound Transfer
The elements below cannot be transferred by DDSS and should be avoided if at all possible. Only
list if they are truly the ONLY option!
7. D2, 1/2 DASH 48 track, etc Sources we have to send to an outside facility for transfer. Extra
costs incurred.
8. 1C and 1 Absolute last resort, will have to be sent out of house and most likely will not pass
QC. Extra costs incurred.

Research Notes:

Once an element is chosen, be sure to look through the details before naming it in the research.
Open the element tab and confirm it is the full feature, theatrical element (not a trailer or main
title). Check the remarks to be sure no existing issues are noted.
Also of note we prefer to use 23.976, 29.97 or 24fps (NTSC or Film Speed) audio whenever
possible. PAL elements are OK to use if they are the only available element, and that language
has always been PAL. Please note Verified, created as a PAL asset.
Please be sure to note the research Verified, only viable source available when either PAL
sources or D2 / 1C / etc. (elements in red above) are chosen.
Elements with Digital Archive rolls are good regardless of their location, these have already been
transferred and are accessible electronic files. Please list the element on the research as usual
and instead of the physical element being pulled the electronic file is.
