    The study examined the relationship between self-esteem and perceptions of leader behavior, and whether this relationship is moderated by the duration of the superior-subordinate relationship. The researchers found that self-esteem was positively related to perceptions of considerate leader behavior for long-term relationships, but unrelated for short-term relationships. Self-esteem was also unrelated to perceptions of initiating structure behavior regardless of relationship duration.
