Overview:
L.L.Bean is currently searching for a Sr. IS/IT Project Manager to join the
Information Services department. Based at our corporate headquarters in
beautiful Freeport, Maine, this highly important position will lead a project team
responsible for planning, developing, and executing medium to large, high-tomedium-risk projects, requiring support and collaboration across many business
areas. You will educate, influence, and lead the organization through the
application of Project Management best practices and standards and apply them
to all projects, tailoring the application of project management standards to
leverage them to meet all project's needs. This role will also manage the IS
Operational Budget.
Responsibilities:
1. Serves as Project Management Subject Matter Expert. Leads and educates
others on Project Management standards and best practices.
2. Leads understanding & adoption of Project Management best practices across
the Company as evidenced by the ability to, with any audience, clarify the
purpose and value of Project Management or a part of the Practice
3. Influences improvements to PM best practices based on experience.
4. Applies proactive management to improve predictability of schedule, cost,
scope, and quality outcomes.
5. Applies judgment to determine the level of rigor required to most effectively
manage the size & complexity of the project. Negotiates, influences, and guides
project delivery approaches while considering constraints, objectives, and team.
6. Understands business process and implications to guide project and team
through options, recommendations.
7. Negotiates trade-offs & influences outcomes across any level of team or
organization, while protecting budget and expected benefits. Facilitates

identification of cost savings to positively impact project delivery/results.


8. Guides & influences the best approach to project delivery considering ROI,
business drivers, constraints, risk, external factors, etc.
9. Understands, applies and educates others on the practice of Earned Value as
evidenced by:
- Schedule and cost baseline set
- Progress (% complete) based on actuals, current ETC's measured from a
baseline
- Cost and Schedule variance analysis that leads to improved predictability in
EAC's
- Seeks ways to evolve the Earned Value proposition based on knowledge,
experience, and organizational readiness.
10. Coordinates and facilitates working sessions across project.
11. Facilitates development of communication strategies that support
understanding and acceptance of project change.
12. Mentors & coaches other project managers. Creates team momentum,
leverages individual strengths to align work with best individual to motivate and
improve overall performance. Provides individual performance feedback to
Managers.
13. Provides and influences input to CBA.

Additional responsibilities include:


Develop and manage the IS operational and staff capacity plans.
Govern the IS project portfolio management processes and tools.
Facilitate working sessions and informational meetings.
Facilitate planning council sessions for executive leaders.
Manage project portfolio data and communications.
Health and Safety Requirement: Ensures compliance with the L.L.Bean
comprehensive Health and Safety program by knowing and following all safety
guidelines, policies, procedures and expectations. Takes immediate and
appropriate action to rectify any unsafe conditions. Ensures compliance of front
line employees with comprehensive Health and Safety program.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years project management experience and proven track record of project
success required
- Proven expertise of Team/Systems Management principles
- Project Manager certification preferred
- Business partner perspective and mindset

- Excellent speaking, presentation, writing, and organization skills


- Demonstrated decision-making ability
- Negotiation skills
- Enthusiasm, passion and persistent drive for progress
- May function in either a single or multi-location environment
Education Level: BA/BS or equivalent
Experience Level: 8 - 10+ years IS/IT project and/or program management
experience
