This week we received most of our new officer

candidate background materials from our
prospective officers. Packets are being assigned
to our current staff and we hope to do interviews
near the end of February or the first week of
March.

Last week, I attended the first of four

sessions of the Minnesota Housing
Institute. I will be working with six other
Carlton County area representatives to
identify greatest needs and facilitate for
growth in housing opportunities in our
community.

STAFF:

PATROL/DETECTIVES:

Congratulations to Officer Charlie Martin and

his wife Julia on the birth of their son Henry.

Our detectives and officers met with

Thom Pertlers staff to go over final
preparation for the John Bemis trial slated
to begin next week.

OPERATIONS:

Our detectives have also been working

with Carlton County deputies on a case
involving a sexual assault that occurred on
I-35 near Esko on Tuesday night.

This week, Detective Randall presented to a

large group of students and staff at the Cloquet
Middle School regarding on-line safety, Cyber
Bullying, the proper use of social media and
how it affects them today and in the future.

We had a visitor knocking on our doors

this week. This little fella showed up
wanting to get in to the police department.
He spent about 2 hours with Shannon
keeping her feet warm. Friends of
Animals came over and picked him up and
returned him to his family. We called him
Buddy but apparently his real name was
Rascal. We were hoping maybe he could
become our house dog but it was not to
be.
