Position Research Paper - 415 points

This research paper will require you to pick a side of an issue that
interests you and research it in order to back up your assertion
regarding that side.
For instance, if you are against our involvement against ISIS,
your assertion will be that we should not be sending any
resources there, and you will have to find research to back up
your reasons behind this stance.
You will then write a 4 to 5 page paper that displays this.
I am letting you chose your topics, but these must be relevant and not
overdone issues ie. abortion, drinking age, legalization of marijuana,
driving age, etc. Virtually all of you have addressed these topics in the
past, now its time to move beyond them into something else.
You can use topics weve run in to throughout our reading so far: the
influence of religion on government, the evil or good nature of
mankind, the effects power has on an individual, how we demonstrate
maturity and/or adulthood, etc. Or you can choose a topic a little
closer to home- the disappearance of farm land, the issue surrounding
pollution, the impact of technology or music on our youth, etc.
Realize that we are spending a good portion of this quarter on this
paper- you will want it to be a topic that you will find either useful or
interesting, so be diligent in your choice.
Your paper will require the following:

Have a thesis statement that states your stance (position).

Have research from at least 5 different sources (1 not internet
and not Encyclopedia entries or Dictionaries) that back up your
stance
Your internet sources must also be from different web sites- not 4
different pages from 1 site- and yes, its easy to tell if they do
It MUST include examples from your research along with in-text
citations that are correctly implemented
It MUST include credentials for your sources
It MUST have a correctly written Works Cited Page if no WC
page, you get a zero

Here are some topics you may choose if you are stuck:

- College choice pick two to research and choose which one would
best fit you
- Career choice- the same as above
- Car choice- same as above
- Cost of college or schooling
- Salaries for professional athletes or musicians
