Nursing Philosophy is pleased to announce a proposal for a series of commissioned
papers in which the work of major philosophers is outlined to illustrate their influence on and importance for nursing. Papers will be of 5000- 7000 words and structured using the following broad headings: Introduction Context. This might explain the circumstances of his/her life, the conditions in which he/she lived and the influences under which he/she worked. Major works and themes. This might also describe (for some philosophers) how the ideas developed further, major critiques, and responses to those critiques where available. Implications for nursing. This might include influence on practice, education and/or research in nursing. Further reading. This will include the major and/or relevant works of the philosopher and references to major biographies or other resources. Any philosopher who illuminates nursing practice can be the subject of a paper. Subject to necessary permissions, it is hoped that in time these papers may be collected and republished in book form. Please discuss in the first instance with Dr Paul Snelling (p.snelling@worc.ac.uk or Dr Martin Lipscomb (Martin.Lipscomb@uwe.ac.uk ) so that duplicates can be avoided and deadlines agreed. All papers will be subject to peer review.
