VOLUNTEERS
Once again, I am counting on the generosity of you all to help with our annual stuffed animal collection.
This is done every year at our February meeting. These donations will be given to the Collin County
Children's Advocacy Center in Plano.
Last year, we were very fortunate to collect 96 stuffed animals. They were very happily received by the
center and made many children happy. It would really be great if we could top that number and
perhaps collect 100 animals this year.
Please consider helping with this worthwhile project. As many of you know, Kohl's has a wonderful program called Kohl's Cares. Since its inception in 2000, they have donated $231 million dollars to hospitals, scholarships, and many programs for children. They sell stuffed animals and books for $5 each,
and this money goes to the Kohl's Cares projects. You might consider purchasing your donation from
Kohl's. This way, you would be helping children twice. Thanks again for your help.

January luncheon
Gloria Campos was a charming and lovely speaker, as well as very interesting. Below is a photo of Gloria with
some of our members:
L to R: Carole Cohen, Lois Kohn, Gloria Campos, Sandy Lambert, Carol Frye, Pat
Richards, and Fran Schneider. Kudos to Carol Frye who arranged for Gloria to
speak to us after the planned speaker had an emergency. Gloria seemed like an
old friend and was absolutely delightful.
sunshine news
Our charming newsletter editor, Marilyn Voyles, had foot surgery and the report from her doctor is that she is healing well but still needs to wear the fancy post operation shoe.
Every winter I say the same thing, I thought I moved to Dallas from Toledo, Ohio to get out of the cold weather
which I truly abhor, then I receive an e-mail from Marcia Kotick saying she loves the cold weather as she finds it so
invigorating and it gives her a chance to wear her winter sweaters. Let's have some fun, those ladies who like the
cold weather e-mail me telling me they like it and those who are like me and dislike it also tell me so. Next month I
will give you the results. Sounds like fun doesn't it?
One thing this weather does is give me lots of time to knit. I have been busy knitting hats and scarves for the
homeless. If there is anyone who would like to help with this project let me know and I will see that you get the
yarn.
Prestonwood Newcomers means friendship. We are all friends and care about each other and are interested in your
happenings. Should your name have been here? I am always interested in receiving your e-mail.

PRESIDENTS MESSAGE
BOARD MEETING
February is Teddy Bear month. Kohl's has some adorable animals. Not only will you be donating to the Childrens Advocacy Center here in Plano, Kohl's also has a
charity that the money from the sale goes to. Lets fill
up an entire car, front, back and trunk. I know we can
do it.
By the time we see each other in February, the daffodils will be blooming, signaling a new season. Take
time to enjoy them.
