Live, Learn, Literacy Night!

Thursday, March 5th


from 4:45-7:30pm
Are you curious about arts integration and what is truly looks like? Have you
ever wondered about the learning your child experiences at school everyday?
You and your child(ren) who attend, Pmaikai, are welcome to join the
Pmaikai teachers for an evening of learning through
the arts and Common Core State Standards. Listen
and learn just like they do- the Pmaikai way!

Dinner will be served from


4:45-5:30
($5 for either: chili bowl & a drink, OR hot dog, chips, & a drink,
OR spam musubi, chips, & a drink)

The evening will be split into two breakout learning

How to Talk Math with Your Kids & All about Kid Biz
Full S.T.E.A.M Ahead an Engineering Challenge!

Focus, Collaborate, and Learn!

Breakout Sessions for:

Live, Learn, Literacy Night!

Breakout Session: Focus, Collaborate, and Learn: This session will get you
out of your seat to learn a commonly used concentration exercise that sets the
tone for learning through drama. This session will show you how Pmaikai students
learn how to focus. Its a powerful tool that strengthens their self control they have
within.
Breakout Session: Full S.T.E.A.M Ahead an Engineering Challenge:
In this session parents and students will need to roll up their sleeves and solve
problems through the engineer design process. This session will ask families to create,
take risks, work together, and test their designs to solve a problem, just as their
student does in the classroom!
Breakout Session: Art through Scientific Eyes: In this session parents and
students will learn how the art of drawing can help a learner observe and
understand science concepts. You dont need to be the worlds best visual artist to
join in and learn. All you need is an open mind and supplies will be provided for
you!
Breakout Session: How to Talk Math with Your Kids & All about Kid
Biz: This is a two part session. The first part will be with Sadie Estrella, BaldwinKekaulike-Maui Complex RT, who will discuss with parents and children how to talk
math through daily encounters with numbers and shapes. The second part of this
session will be with Sarah Oberbeck, Achieve3000 Curriculum and Implementation
Manager. You and your child will learn about the importance of literacy, how you
can measure your childs reading, and use the Home Edition. Bring your own mobile
device (tablet or phone) if youd like. Computers and iPads will be available.
