Al Baraka bank is not a local bank.

It is a foreign bank that has opened its branches

in Pakistan. It is a service provider and it has positioned its services around an
experience with a new level of trust and convenience providing Shariah complaint
banking service. It is targeted at people who want to earn money on their deposits
according to teachings of Islam and Sunnah. They have used the term partnership
because in Islamic banking the concept of Modariba which revolves around
partnering to earn profit.
Their market offering comprises of various services. Around 2007 when banking
industry was flourishing in Pakistan various bank started their operations in
Pakistan. Given the current economic condition of Pakistani economy; people saving
has declined significantly and for banks saving deposits are the prime sources of
their earnings. Thus to attract potential customers it provides free ATM cards, free
cheaque books, free duplicate bank statement, free online banking transactions,
free hold mail, free pay orders and free utility bills payment through ATM. The
services which they provide include SMS banking, online banking and intercity
clearing facility to its customers. I saw just one branch of this bank which was
located in DHA phase II commercial area. The ad which was places outside their
bank was that a portion of money was set on fire which left deep impression in the
mind as a viewer since it reminds of the Quranic verse that interest (riba) is strictly
prohibited in Islam.
I think Meezan, Dubai Islamic and various other banks that have positioned
themselves as Islamic banks are its major competitors. It doesnt have a big
marketing share so in order to increase its customer base I think they should follow
aggressive marketing strategy for market penetration.

I found the above ad on internet while I was searching for banks in Pakistan and this
pop up came on my laptop screen. But that was not what caught my attention in
particular it was altogether different layout like some sort of receipt or cheque book
paper. The thing which I noticed first was this stamp located in top right corner,
which gave me an impression that whatever is on this add is authentic so I must
view it.
