Hales Family Happenings

February 2015

Elisha Aiden Hales

praise
Elisha is here and healthy.
Rebecca is healthy and
recovering well.
Rebeccas parents were able
to be here for the birth and
spend a good amount of time
with us afterward.
The BMMI team had a
successful trip down here and
was able to minister to a lot
of people.

Pray
That discipleship will be able
to take place among the
many people that have been
ministered to lately.
For us as we adjust to this
new roll of being parents to 2
young ones.
For the burden of Childrens
ministry to spread to more
people.
For the struggling church in
Snchez to get established
well and begin to grow both
spritually and in number

Jesse, Rebecca, Colton & Elisha

Many of you may have already seen the news or even followed the events on
facebook as they happened, but I wanted to use this chance to explain how Elishas
birth was such a huge answer to prayer and how God used it to glorify Himself.
We prayed along with many others during this pregnancy that Rebecca would
have a safe and healthy pregnancy and would be able to have a successful VBAC
(natural birth after cesarean). A successful VBAC was the desire of our hearts for
many reasons and meant a great deal to us. God had led us to the one doctor in the
Dominican with training and experience with this type of birth and she was willing
to work with us on it as long as everything progressed safely. As the due date got
closer and everything seemed to be going just fine, we really felt God had answered
our prayers by giving us the desire of our heart. That was the case up until the last
appointment before the due date. Rebeccas doctor had broken her knee and was
out of the country. When we got to the appointment the office administrator told
us they had found a law here that was going to prevent them from even attempting
the VBAC . It was too late to try flying back to the states. We were stuck here with
no choice but to have another C-section. It was very upsetting news but there was
nothing left to do but try to accept it and move forward.
When we got to the hospital for the scheduled
C-section we were put into a Labor and Delivery
room and told to wait there because the doctor
was running late and wanted to talk to us
beforehand. 30 minutes later Rebeccas original
doctor who had flown in the night before came in
with her leg in a brace and asked us if we wanted
to have an induction and still try for the VBAC. Of
Waiting on the doctor
course we said yes with excitement and a little
confusion. She gave Rebecca medicine to start labor and gave us an ultimatum that
if her body did not progress to a certain point in 2 hours the VBAC would be called
off and a C-section preformed. We began to pray and asked others to pray. 2 hours
later Rebeccas body had reached that milestone and we were given another 2
hours with a goal to reach. This went on several times and each time God allowed
us to keep proceeding forward. Finally at 6:20 pm on January 22nd Elisha Aiden
Hales was born weighing 7 Ibs. 4 oz. and 19 in. long.
God indeed gave us the desire of our heart, a healthy baby boy and a healthy
mother. He also allowed it to be done without a C-section in spite of all the odds.
We praise Him for His faithfulness and thank you for your prayers.

A few days later I received this message from a dear friend who followed our
updates and requests for prayer on facebook. Through the things that transpired
this past Thursday (The birth of your child) I along with hundreds of other people
got to witness the power of prayer and the power of a great God. To watch his
power unfold right before our very eyes, all I can say is wow. Thank you for all of
your post that allowed me to see this in real time. And praise God for giving us all a
chance to witness this. This is a pivotal point in my journey. I guess sometimes God
allows us to run into roadblocks just so He can remind us all just how easily He can
break right through them. We serve a mighty and faithful God! All praise is due
Him, roadblocks or no roadblocks!
In other news for this month, we are very thankful for FBC of Damascus, AR and
the rest of the BMMI (medical) team that spent a week ministering through free
medical clinics at both the Nagua and Snchez churches. They touched the lives of
over 900 people through their service. They were also able to match up all the
many dresses we received from the Ina's Girls ministry with little girls in need. It
was a tremendous blessing to have them here.

Rebecca got to be alert enough to enjoy & remember this
